Hello Avalanche Trolls Ski Club Families,

We are so excited about our 2nd ski trip of the year to Little Switzerland on Saturday December 16th. Buses will be leaving from Glenview at 7:30, Highland Park at 7:50. Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to departure time to allow time for kids to load their equipment and get on the bus.

Conditions look to be great this weekend. Little Switzerland received 3 inches of fresh snow today with another 3-6 inches of snow is expected on Wednesday. Temps are supposed to stay below 30 degrees all week which will allow the resort to blow snow every night to increase their base and create better conditions for us.

The day will run as follows; beginner and Levels 1 and 2 for skiers and A and B for snowboarders will be in the morning. Our more advanced lessons will be in the afternoon as well as our beginners who will have the opportunity to take a second lesson. Before and after lessons, kids are encouraged to free ski with their friends. Our instructors will be out on the hill as well as in the lodge and will be wearing bright yellow jackets, so they are easily recognizable.

As for lunch, the choice is yours. You can either pack a lunch or send your child with money to buy their lunch. We will have a table inside where kids can leave their belongings and lunches. We also encourage kids to wear their ski/snowboard boots on the bus so they don’t have to worry about carrying more stuff and keeping track of their shoes.

The buses will be returning to Highland Park at 5:10 and Glenview at 5:30

Dear Trolls Family,

We’re gearing up in what hopes to be another great winter season. As the 2017-18 season begins, Trolls and Avalanche Ski Club will be merging in anticipation of improving and growing the program. Lessons will be provided by our own ski and snowboard instructors which will essentially build a more personalized relationship and create continuity from week to week. We want to make it possible for the kids to have a great memorable ski and snowboard experience - including an improved family experience which encompasses overall convenience and service for the parents.

Also beginning this season, we’re incorporating technology to make the signup process much easier. It will now be done on line at www.avalancheskiclub.com. The advantage will be that credit cards will be used for membership and weekly fees. The membership fees will remain unchanged at $75. In addition, weekly fees are down $5 to $75 on the Wilmot, Alpine and Little Switzerland days and $95 on the Cascade/Chestnut days.

We’ll start our 53rd Season on Saturday, December 2nd. Dates for the 2017-18 Season are:
• Little Switzerland: Dec 2nd, Jan 13th, Feb 3rd and Feb 24th
• Wilmot Mountain: Dec 9th, Jan 6th, Jan 27th and March 10th
• Chestnut Mountain: December 16th
• Alpine Valley: February 17th
• Cascade Mountain: Jan 20th, Feb 10th, March 3rd and March 17th

The Chestnut and Cascade trips will be from 6:30 AM – 7PM due to the longer distance. We're doing these pickups an hour earlier this year due to parent feedback as the 8PM return time was too long of a day for the kids. We will continue to have the main pick-up at Lyons School in Glenview (SE corner of Waukegan Rd and Lake Avenue) and TBD on additional pick-up points. Please check back for those locations as the first trip approaches.

Trips other than Chestnut and Cascade will be from 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Please try to have your kids at the locations by 7:15 AM and be on time at 5:00 PM for pickup.
As always, we strive to have friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff at Scandinavian Ski Shop to ensure that your children’s skiing & snowboarding needs are taken care of during the winter season.

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Ski trip tomorrow (3/4) is on. Our travels will be taking us to Wilmot as they have indicated they will be open. Tell everyone and we hope to see you tomorrow for some early spring skiing

ATTENTION! Due to the unpredictable weather the trip scheduled for Saturday, Feb 25th to Wilmot has been cancelled. Please continue to check the page and contact the ski shop for any further updates. We hope that the weather will begin to cooperate so we can get the remaining 3 trips completed. We're thankful that you've made Trolls the club of your choice!
