At our 2026 National Conference, the American Brain Tumor Association proudly presented The Will Hicks Charitable Association with the Joel A. Gingras Jr. Award, our highest honor.
Founded in Will’s memory, the association has turned loss into lasting hope by advancing research and supporting patients and families facing a brain tumor diagnosis.

We are still reeling from this weekend!

When we got together to celebrate after receiving our award, we couldn’t think of a better way to honor Will than by reading his old journal entries and hearing his voice again.

His entries feel as though he knew they would one day be read by the people who loved him. If you knew Will, you know what an incredible storyteller and special person he was- charismatic, thoughtful, playful, confident, and witty. This entry captures him perfectly.

We wanted to share it because, as you read his words, you can almost hear him telling the story. We hope it resonates with some of you who miss him as much as we do! 💙💛

Receiving the Joel A. Gingras, Jr. Award- the American Brain Tumor Association’s highest honor- is truly the honor of a lifetime.

After losing Will, we made a choice in the midst of our grief: to step forward, make something out of our pain, and celebrate his life. Sixteen years and more than $340,000 later, our commitment to the ABTA remains steadfast.

Will is the reason we started, but the patients, families, researchers, and advocates we have met along the way are the reason we continue. We fight for them and their futures- and we won’t stop.

We share this award with our family, friends, and entire Will Power community who made these 16 years possible. As Will always said, “United we are unstoppable.” 💙

Another successful year Team Will Power! Together we raised $30,000 at the 16th Annual Will Hicks Memorial Golf Outing. You brought your energy, your wallets, your outfits and your classic Willay stories yet again. With your generosity we will be able to give this money to the American Brain Tumor Association for the 16th straight year! THANK YOU!!
