Charles Arthur Wilson, Jr. of Willow Grove, PA passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2022. He was 88 years old.
Charles was the loving and devoted husband of Clara (nee Olivo) Wilson of Udine, Italy for 66 years. Clara predeceased her husband in July 2022.
During their time on Earth, they raised two children. Son Charles, wife Audrey, and children Charles and Travis Wilson. Chas. Jr, and wife Alyssa have a son Lucas Arthur Wilson, who is Charlie’s great grandson. Daughter Barbara (nee Wilson) Davis, spouse Anthony, and children Harper and Barbara’s daughter Clara.
Charles was predeceased by his parents Charles Arthur Wilson, Sr. of Germantown, PA and his mother Winifred (nee McGeever) Wilson of Ballyboes, Donegal, Ireland. Also predeceasing him were his sisters Winifred Brown, Dorothy Tierney, and brother William (Bill) Wilson.
Charles “Charlie” Wilson, Jr. was born at home in Philadelphia in 1934 and attended Germantown High School. He joined the Air Force in 1954 and was stationed at Aviano Air Force Base in northern Italy. There he met his future wife, Clara Olivo, at a wedding. They were married 6 months later. From Italy, Charles, Clara and newborn Charles were transferred to Wheeler Airforce base in Libya, Africa.
Charlie was honorably discharged from the Air Force and raised his family, first in Philadelphia and then in Willow Grove, PA. He had a successful career in the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier (like his father,) eventually was promoted through the ranks, and ultimately retired as Postmaster of Devon, PA.

Charlie was devoted to the James A. Flaherty Council, Knights of Columbus (Grand Knight 2005,) where he was a 4th degree Knight and held various leadership posts during his time with them. He was a long-time member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH.) He and Clara spent countless hours supporting the good works of both organizations. Charles also marched with the Mummers in Philly, supported the Reilly Raiders, and followed The Irish Thunder Bagpipers.
All in all, a life well lived. Leaving behind a legacy of love, friendship, and kindness…
On Friday February 17th, there will be a private burial service at Washingtons Crossing Military Cemetery where Charlie will be buried with full military honors.

The Hughes family, and our Knights family, has suffered a devastating loss. Cathy meant SO much to so many people, we don't even know how to put it into words. She was a friend and mentor to many, and considered family by many more. Cathy and Tom have been the backbone of our Council for many years, and she worked hard and long to help in any way possible. Her loss will be felt forever. Please keep Tommy, Amy, the Hughes boys, and Cathy's grandchildren in your prayers, and pray for the repose of her soul.

James A. Flaherty Home Association #3128
235 Limekiln Pike
Glenside, PA 19038

Hello, Neighbors of Glenside!

It was brought to our attention by Commissioner Matt Areman that there was an incident on Friday evening that may have involved people who rented our facility. There was drag racing on
Limekiln Pike as well as people gathering outside. One of the neighbors did call and share legitimate concerns about people in his driveway as well. Our bar manager spoke to the host of
the party that evening and asked her to get her guests to come inside and not gather outside. She was struggling to get her guests to follow her requests. Our bar manager also spoke to the
officer who was on scene after calls were made.

We want to apologize for the irresponsibility of any of the guests of the rental who were involved in this behavior. We later learned that this was repase for a 19 year old young man who lost his life and emotions may have been highly charged. This is no excuse but may explain the immature behavior that was exhibited. We do our best to ask the hosts to respect our policies and neighbors. We ask their guests to do the same.

The Flaherty Home Association wants to stress that this incident did not involve any of our members. It was not condoned or supported by our organization or any of our members. It is not
even confirmed if the drag racers were even guests of the party or if guests of the party were just outside witnessing. No matter what their level of involvement was in this incident we are
sorry that this occurred at all.

We understand the concerns of the neighbors and agree that the behavior was not acceptable
or safe. This behavior required police assistance. This lead to the party being over by 9:30pm.
We continue to work with our Board to enforce and adjust our rental agreements as they arise
but could never prepare for this type of event. Again we apologize on behalf of the host and the guests for the irresponsibleness that was exhibited.

Our Board looks forward to seeing you at our next community event. We will continue to address issues as they are brought to our attention.

Your neighbors,
Flaherty Home Association Board
