~ June is National Reunification Month ~

While May shines a light on the resource families who provide temporary care, June reminds us why that care exists in the first place.

The goal of foster care is, and should be, reunification whenever it can be achieved safely. This month, we celebrate the parents, grandparents, relatives, and families who put in the hard work of healing, growing, and overcoming challenges to bring their children home.

Reunification is rarely a simple journey. It often involves difficult conversations, navigating systems, meeting requirements, rebuilding trust, and demonstrating tremendous perseverance. Yet every day, families across the country are doing exactly that.

Strengthening and preserving families is one of the most important investments we can make. Reunification represents hope and the belief that families can heal when given support and opportunity.

The families who have successfully reunified... Those families actively working toward reunification...
The professionals, advocates, and communities who help make those reunions possible..
We see you and celebrate you πŸ’™

This important event brought together professionals and advocates committed to improving access, inclusion, and trauma-informed engagement for children and youth with disabilities involved in the court system.

Thank you to the SCCA for creating space for these critical conversations and for your ongoing leadership in advancing disability-friendly and trauma-informed practices!

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽ–οΈ

We also recognize the many Foster Care Alumni who have served - and continue to serve - in the armed forces. For many young people impacted by foster care, military service represents purpose, stability, community, education, and a path forward.

Today, we honor those who carried both service and survival.

May we never forget the sacrifices made by members of our military, veterans, and the countless individuals whose resilience was forged long before they ever wore a uniform.
