When people think of economic development, they often think of business parks, manufacturing facilities, or office buildings.

In Warren County, one of our most important economic assets is something entirely different: Lake George.

The boating and marine economy that surrounds the "Queen of American Lakes" supports local businesses, jobs, tourism, property values, and quality of life throughout the region.

Consider the impact:

35,505 boat inspections were conducted in 2024, helping protect Lake George from invasive species.

Warren County generates approximately $859 million in annual visitor spending.

Dozens of marinas, boat dealers, tour operators, charter services, rental businesses, and marine contractors support a vibrant waterfront economy.

Thousands of jobs are supported directly and indirectly through tourism, hospitality, recreation, and marine-related businesses.

At EDC Warren County, we increasingly view stewardship of our natural resources as an economic strategy. Protecting the waters that attract visitors, support businesses, and define our region is an investment in our future prosperity.

The Lake George Blue Economy is proof that environmental stewardship and economic development can go hand in hand.

Congratulations to Sasha Pardy on being named one of the New York State Restaurant Association's "10 Women to Watch" in Hospitality for 2026.

This recognition is a testament to Sasha's leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to creating memorable experiences for visitors and residents alike.

From the early days of Adirondack Winery's small Lake George tasting room to today's thriving winery, event venue, and hospitality destination, Sasha has helped build a business that contributes to our region's economy while enhancing Warren County's reputation as a place people want to visit.

Her impact extends far beyond the winery. As founder and organizer of the Adirondack Wine & Food Festival, Sasha has created one of the region's premier annual events. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this month, the festival generated an estimated $3.6 million in economic impact last year, benefiting local lodging properties, restaurants, retailers, attractions, and small businesses throughout the region.

The festival is a great example of the Experience Economy in action. People come not only for great food and beverages, but for the memories, connections, and experiences that make Lake George a special destination.

Congratulations, Sasha, on this well-deserved honor, and thank you for everything you do to support Warren County's economy and hospitality community.

We wish you and the entire Adirondack Winery team a successful 10th Anniversary Adirondack Wine & Food Festival later this month on June 27th & 28th

Over the past decade, Warren County has made tremendous progress in expanding broadband access.

What was once a challenge for many residents and businesses has become one of the region's most important economic assets. Today, approximately 96% of locations in Warren County have access to broadband service, supported by significant public and private investment in fiber, wireless, and other connectivity infrastructure.

But as recent research and industry discussions suggest, the next chapter is about more than building networks.

The real opportunity lies in how communities use connectivity to support entrepreneurship, small business growth, remote work, workforce development, innovation, education, and access to services.

Broadband is no longer simply a utility. It has become a critical piece of economic infrastructure.

As Warren County continues to grow and evolve, the focus is increasingly shifting from connectivity itself to the opportunities that connectivity creates for residents, businesses, and communities.

The communities that succeed in the future may not be those that build the most infrastructure. They may be the ones that make the most of the infrastructure they already have.

A great recognition for one of Warren Countyโ€™s defining natural assets.

The Schroon River being named among New York Stateโ€™s top fishing streams highlights something we talk about often: natural assets are economic assets. From tourism and recreation to talent attraction and quality of life, these resources help shape the economy we are building for the future. The river flows nearly 68 miles through the Adirondacks and remains one of the regionโ€™s signature outdoor experiences.

Congratulations to everyone helping preserve and promote this incredible resource.

From a garage in Queensbury to one of the region's largest electrical contractors!

This Albany Business Review story highlighted the journey of Joe Gross and Gross Electric, a homegrown company that now employs more than 400 people and supports projects across the Northeast.

This story says a lot about where our region has been and where it is going.

Our communities were built by manufacturers, mills, and industrial employers that created opportunity for generations. Today, entrepreneurial stories like Gross Electric show how that foundation continues to evolve.

Homegrown companies. Local jobs. New opportunities.

Congratulations to Joe Gross and the Gross Electric team on building something remarkable.

Celebrating 100 Years of The Queensbury Hotel -

Last night, EDC Warren County was proud to join community leaders, employees, partners, supporters, and guests in celebrating an incredible milestone. 100 years of The Q and 10 years of local ownership and investment.

For a century, The Q has been far more than a hotel. It has been a gathering place, an economic anchor, a community institution, and one of the defining symbols of downtown Glens Falls.

Since opening in 1926, generations of visitors, residents, dignitaries, performers, politicians, athletes, and business leaders have passed through its doors. From presidents and public figures to entertainers and visitors experiencing our region for the first time, The Q has not simply hosted history. It has created it.

Under Ed Mooreโ€™s local ownership, many millions of dollars have been invested into restoration, expansion, modernization, and adjacent property acquisition, reinforcing what many already knew. Strong downtowns need strong anchors.

We also want to recognize Ed Moore, Tyler Herrick, and Zack Moore for their leadership and continued commitment to ensuring this iconic institution remains strong for future generations.

As longtime members and supporters of EDC Warren County, we are grateful for The Qโ€™s continued partnership and commitment to our region.

Congratulations on 100 years of hospitality, investment, and community leadership. Hereโ€™s to the next century!

Congratulations to Sarah Heddell and Glens Falls-based 2 Check Electric on being featured by the Times Union.

Sarahโ€™s story is a great example of the kind of entrepreneurship helping shape the future of our regional economy. After building experience across the country, she chose to return home and invest in our community by growing her business here.

Businesses like 2 Check Electric are doing more than delivering services. They are creating local opportunity, supporting skilled trades, strengthening our workforce pipeline, and helping modernize the infrastructure that communities and businesses rely on every day.

Weโ€™re excited to see local entrepreneurs continue to grow and build right here in Warren County. Congratulations again to Sarah and the entire 2 Check Electric team.

A recent article from Chmura Economics & Analytics highlighted an important shift happening across the country:

Economic growth is increasingly becoming a competition for people, not just companies.

Younger professionals and families today are more mobile than ever. Many are choosing where they want to live based on quality of life, outdoor recreation, culture, affordability, broadband connectivity, and community character, then building their careers around that decision.

That creates a real opportunity for regions like Warren County and the Adirondacks.

Our region already offers many of the things people are searching for:
โ€ข Incredible natural beauty and outdoor recreation
โ€ข Vibrant downtowns like Glens Falls
โ€ข Arts, music, and cultural amenities
โ€ข Strong community identity
โ€ข Growing broadband and connectivity investments
โ€ข Access to both recreation and urban centers

This is why investments in housing, broadband, transportation, downtown revitalization, recreation, and placemaking are so important to the long-term future of our economy.

At EDC Warren County, we continue working with local governments, businesses, institutions, and community partners to help position our region as a place where people want to live, work, invest, and build a future.

The Adirondacks have something many places cannot replicate: authenticity. That remains one of our greatest economic strengths moving forward.
