Sweater weather is officially here, and that means one more thing to check before you buckle up: removing the bulky coat before buckling the car seat. A thick coat can compress in a crash, leaving the harness too loose to do its job. Buckle and secure the harness first, then you can add the coat over the top or use it as a blanket instead. This small move can make a big difference in how well the harness can protect your rider.

DO YOURSELF AND YOUR CO-WORKERS A FAVOR AND STAY HOME WHEN SICK

Colder weather is here, and with it has arrived the cold/flu/viral season that coincides with drier air and people spending more time together inside. What's the number one thing we can do to slow the spread of illness? Stay home when sick.

It's one of the most important lessons we learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with keeping our hands clean. If you have a fever, feel blah, or have any other potential symptoms of illness, err on the side of caution whenever possible.

As an aside, Why is drier air a factor in cold/flu season? Viruses spread more easily in drier air, as they stay infectious longer outside the human body when it is less humid.

Warren County Public Health will be holding a free car seat check event on October 21st from 3pm – 5pm at the Aviation Mall in the parking lot next to ADK Karting (formerly Sears). Certified car seat techs will be on hand to help anyone who transports children to learn how to correctly install all types of car seats. There will be a limited number of seats available to provide to caregivers if the seat they are currently using is found to be unsafe for the child. Please feel free to contact Warren County Health Services at (518)661-6580 if you have any questions and ask to speak with one of their trained car seat techs.

October is # , and one of the best ways to prevent fires from causing injury or extensive property damage is use of smoke detectors! Test your detector regularly, and make sure you have at least one on every level of your home.

CHILD SEAT CHECK IN QUEENSBURY WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21

If you want to make sure your child's seat is installed correctly, and that it's not the subject of a recall, our certified car seat technicians will hold their next free car seat safety check at Aviation Mall in Queensbury.

Our staff will be on hand in front of ADK Karting (the former Sears store) from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Come by to make sure you child's seat is protecting them fully.

All cancellations must be received by October 26th, 2026. Cancellations received after this deadline are non-refundable.
