Oreo ( ) is a one-year-old Terrier mix with a heart as big as his playful spirit!

He spent several months in a loving home, but when the family's daughter developed severe allergies, they made the difficult decision to bring him back so he could find his perfect match.

Oreo is bursting with playful energy! He loves fetch, tug-of-war, and zooming around the dog park. He's eager to please, knows some basic commands, and is happiest right by your side soaking up affection. And bonus - he's cat-approved from his previous home!

With an experienced adopter to continue his training, Oreo will absolutely blossom into the best companion. We LOVE him... but we don't want him growing up here.

Meet Jade ( )

This beautiful 3-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix has been waiting far too long for someone to see just how special she is. Deaf since birth, Jade doesn't let that slow her down one bit - she's smart, spirited, and full of personality, with curious eyes and a heart that's ready to love.

Jade arrived at our Port Washington, NY Adoption Center in November 2022 as a puppy, and she's spent her whole life growing up surrounded by staff and volunteers who adore her. But what she truly deserves is a home of her own.

Jade would do best with an experienced large-breed adopter who is patient, dedicated, and excited to keep building on the training she's already worked so hard on. She prefers to be your one-and-only and would thrive in an adults-only home where she can form a strong bond with her people.

After more than two years in our care, Jade deserves the chance to finally experience what every dog dreams of - a loving forever home.

Message us for more details.
She's been waiting... just for you.

Sinatra ( ) has spent his entire life waiting for a family of his own. Rescued from Tennessee as a young pup, this sweet Hound mix has grown up inside our adoption center, watching other dogs come and go, always wondering when it will be his turn.

Sinatra is a playful, energetic boy with a heart full of love for those he trusts. It may take a little time for him to warm up to new faces, but once he does, he's the ultimate cuddle buddy - he even gives hugs!

He's hoping for a home with experienced adopters, with older children, where he can be your only pet - just a place where he can be the center of your world. If you've got patience, love, and room in your heart for a loyal companion, Sinatra could be your perfect match.

Message us for more info ! Let's finally get this sweet boy the happily-ever-after he's been waiting for.

Hi, I'm Mildred ( )... but my friends call me Millie

I'm four months old, which basically means I wake up every day ready to PARTY. Playtime? Yes. Zoomies? Obviously. Being adorable 24/7? It's a full-time job and I take it very seriously.

I love people (like... a lot), and I'm pretty sure I was born to be someone's sidekick. Hiking buddy, couch cuddler, snack supervisor I can do it all.

Life is one big adventure and I'm just waiting for you to scoop me up so we can start ours together.
So... what do you say?

Your new best friend is ready when you are.

We asked Cindy, one of our amazing Kennel Managers, to pick a favorite...

Not an easy task - because she truly loves them all - but one special pup came to mind...

Meet Casper ( )
This one-year-old Pitbull Terrier mix may be deaf, but that doesn't slow down his playful, adventurous spirit one bit. Casper was adopted as a puppy and recently returned through no fault of his own, and now he's ready to start a new chapter filled with love and fun.

He loves off-campus outings, playing fetch, and showing off his excellent leash manners. Casper is a goofy, affectionate boy with a heart full of love, just waiting for the right family to appreciate everything that makes him so special.

Casper would thrive with a patient, experienced adopter in a calm, steady home where he can continue to learn, explore, and grow into the loyal companion he's meant to be.

Message us and see why Cindy couldn't help but choose him.

National Volunteer Month continues, and we're excited to introduce another incredible member of our volunteer family!

Meet Eric Greene, a dedicated volunteer at North Shore Animal League America who first came to gain experience - but quickly fell in love with helping cats in need.

Now 18, Eric spends his weekends in Bianca's Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center (BFF), working with cats of all personalities - especially the shy ones who need a little extra patience.

"It's amazing to see the progress," he said. "You start to see them open up little by little."

His favorite moments? The quiet ones.
"Just being with the cats - petting them, socializing - that's definitely my favorite part."

Thank you, Eric, for your compassion and dedication to our cats.

How's THIS for a photo?!
In the middle of our busy adoption center...Dallas was completely
unbothered. Nap time = NOW.
(Don't worry - we posted a second pic when he woke up!)

But here's the thing... Dallas isn't just cute - he's the total package.

Dallas ( ) is a sweet 1-year-old Hound mix who has been waiting far too long for his forever home.

Dallas is playful, loving, and full of life - but after being diagnosed with epilepsy, he's been overlooked.
And honestly? He shouldn't be.

Medical care for Dallas' seizure-related condition is fully covered at our Pet Health Centers for life. A minimum of two checkups per year is required to maintain this benefit, and care must be provided at our centers (costs at outside clinics are not reimbursed) - so he can keep living his happy, tail-wagging life by your side.

Rescue community - we hear you all the time:
"Dogs with epilepsy can live amazing, normal lives."
If that's been your experience, drop a comment and help Dallas get the chance he deserves.

Message us for more info.

Please share and help this sleepy, silly, lovable boy finally find his forever home.

We interrupt your scrolling for a BREAKING
NEWS report:
Mama Mia has been spotted... wearing a totally-not-ridiculous blanket!

Two Mama Mia posts in two days? Sorry not sorry!

Three-year-old Pitbull Terrier mix Mama Mia ( ) has already lived a lifetime of love and resilience. Found very pregnant on the side of the road in Texas, she was taken in by a kind couple where she gave birth to nine puppies. With the help of rescue partners, Mama Mia and her entire family made their way to safety.

Since arriving at North Shore Animal League America, she's as quickly become a staff favorite (we know, we say that about all our animals but it's true!) - a gentle, devoted mom who gave everything she had to her babies.

Now it's her turn!

Mama Mia is as sweet as they come. She loves people, seeks out affection, and has the softest, kindest spirit. She may do well with another dog after a proper meet and greet, and would do best in a home with older children who understand her boundaries.

We'll throw in the blanket for free! Ha ha.
