Did you know that The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Poppy Day (National Poppy Day®) takes place on the Friday before Memorial Day. Americans are encouraged to wear a red poppy as a symbol of remembrance for fallen service members and to support living veterans.The red poppy became the memorial flower of The American Legion Auxiliary in the 1920s. During Poppy Day and throughout Memorial Day weekend, Auxiliary members and the American Legion Family distribute these symbolic flowers in public spaces like local grocery stores and community centers. Watch for us on this Saturday, May 19th! We’re the early birds!

In the spirit of Service, Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military, and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.
