Did you know that this week is Buddy Checks Week?

September 21-25, 2026 is National Buddy Check Week. Learn how Legionnaires reach out to veterans in our communities who need connection and assistance though organized Buddy Checks.

For more information, check out this website to share with others.

Buddy Checks reconnect with veterans who may need assistance but don't know where to go or who to ask. Whether by a personal visit, phone call, or email, the important part is to reach out to veterans in your community to let them know you care and can provide whatever assistance they may need.

Did you know that The American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Poppy Day (National Poppy Day®) takes place on the Friday before Memorial Day. Americans are encouraged to wear a red poppy as a symbol of remembrance for fallen service members and to support living veterans. The red poppy became the memorial flower of The American Legion Auxiliary in the 1920s. During Poppy Day and throughout Memorial Day weekend, Auxiliary members and the American Legion Family distribute these symbolic flowers in public spaces like local grocery stores and community centers. Watch for us on this Saturday, May 19th! We’re the early birds!
