The VFW traces its roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service: Many arrived home wounded or sick. There was no medical care or veterans' pension for them,and they were left to care for themselves. In their misery, some of these veterans banded together an

d formed organizations with what would become known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. After chapters were formed in Ohio, Colorado and Pennsylvania, the movement quickly gained momentum. By 1915, membership grew to 5,000; by 1936, membership was almost 200,000. Since then, the VFW's voice had been instrumental in establishing the Veterans Administration, creating a GI bill for the 20th century, the development of the national cemetery system and the fight for compensation for Vietnam vets exposed to Agent Orange and for veterans diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome. In 2008, VFW won a long-fought victory with the passing of a GI Bill for the 21st Century, giving expanded educational benefits to America's active-duty service members, and members of the Guard and Reserves, fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The VFW also has fought for improving VA medical centers services for women veterans. Besides helping fund the creation of the Vietnam, Korean War, World War II and Women in Military Service memorials, the VFW in 2005 became the first veterans' organization to contribute to building the new Disabled Veterans for Life Memorial, which opened in November 2010. Annually, the nearly 2 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliaries contribute more than 8.6 million hours of volunteerism in the community, including participation in Make A Difference Day and National Volunteer Week. From providing over $3 million in college scholarships and savings bonds to students every year, to encouraging elevation of the Department of Veterans Affairs to the president's cabinet, the VFW is there.

ATTENTION VFW MEMBERS, AUXILIARY MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS

The VFW stood up when Congress tried to use future veterans’ disability compensation to finance TCAVA.

NOW THE VFW NEEDS ITS MEMBERS TO STAND UP AGAIN.

The VFW did not abandon Major Star Act veterans. It made clear that the Major Star Act must pass clean—and that future disabled veterans must not be forced to pay for it.

VFW members have already sent more than 60,000 messages to Congress. That pressure helped stop TCAVA from moving forward unchanged. Congress needs to hear from the VFW community again.

VFW, DAV and IAVA are being left out of TCAVA meetings. Congress cannot fill a room with bill supporters and call it veteran consensus.

Koch-network advocacy groups do not replace the VFW. Political coalitions do not speak for VFW members. No TCAVA meeting should occur without VFW, DAV and IAVA receiving equal notice, access, materials and time.

The four identical emails demand:

• Include VFW, DAV and IAVA in every TCAVA meeting and negotiation.

• Replace TCAVA Section 101 with the full Major Star Act text in H.R. 2102 and S. 1032.

• Remove the Section 104(b) VA home-loan fee increases.

• Remove Section 108’s tinnitus and sleep-apnea rating changes.

We’re excited to once again host the 5th Annual Snapshots With Santa, provided by The Dallas Lowry Foundation.

This is a completely FREE community event, and families are invited to come spend a few minutes with Santa and Mrs. Claus and receive their photos digitally at no cost.

🎮 INTRODUCING THE VFW POST 9126 GAMING COMMUNITY!

We’re excited to officially start building something new at VFW Post 9126 in Glenpool — the **VFW Post 9126 Gaming Community**.

Our goal is simple: create a place where people can play, connect, compete, make friends, and belong.

Veterans will always be at the heart of what we do, but this community is not limited to veterans or VFW members.

Veterans. Active duty. Guard and Reserve. Military families. Friends. Local gamers. Community members.

If you want to game with us, you’re welcome.

We’re planning both **online and in-person gaming**, including:

🎮 PC & console gaming
🐉 Dungeons & Dragons and other TTRPGs
🃏 Magic: The Gathering and other TCGs
🎲 Board & tabletop games
♠️ Poker & card games
🏈 Fantasy sports leagues
🏆 Tournaments & competitions
🌐 Online gaming
🎉 Game nights, LAN-style events and community events

We’re also working toward establishing four gaming PC stations at the Post as the beginning of our physical gaming setup, with room to grow as the community grows.

We already have program leadership and volunteers starting to come together, and we plan to work with local gaming groups, game stores, clubs, businesses and other organizations throughout the Glenpool and Tulsa area.

We’re also looking for people who want to help lead games, organize leagues and events, volunteer, partner with us, sponsor the program, or help with equipment and other needs.

Today, VFW Post 9126 honors the Navajo Code Talkers whose courage, service, and ingenuity helped protect our nation during World War II.

Using their native Navajo language, these warriors created and transmitted an unbreakable code that played a vital role in the Pacific Theater. They served with distinction while keeping their mission—and their language—at the heart of the effort.

Their contribution was extraordinary. Their sacrifice was real. Their legacy is enduring.

Today, we honor the Navajo Code Talkers and remember the powerful role they played in defending our freedom.
