VFW Post 9126

VFW Post 9126 We cover the areas of Glenpool, Jenks, Bixby, Kiefer, Mounds and Beggs. We invite you to join us!

The VFW traces its roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service: Many arrived home wounded or sick. There was no medical care or veterans' pension for them, and they were left to care for themselves. In their misery, some of these veterans banded together an

d formed organizations with what would become known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. After chapters were formed in Ohio, Colorado and Pennsylvania, the movement quickly gained momentum. By 1915, membership grew to 5,000; by 1936, membership was almost 200,000. Since then, the VFW's voice had been instrumental in establishing the Veterans Administration, creating a GI bill for the 20th century, the development of the national cemetery system and the fight for compensation for Vietnam vets exposed to Agent Orange and for veterans diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome. In 2008, VFW won a long-fought victory with the passing of a GI Bill for the 21st Century, giving expanded educational benefits to America's active-duty service members, and members of the Guard and Reserves, fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The VFW also has fought for improving VA medical centers services for women veterans. Besides helping fund the creation of the Vietnam, Korean War, World War II and Women in Military Service memorials, the VFW in 2005 became the first veterans' organization to contribute to building the new Disabled Veterans for Life Memorial, which opened in November 2010. Annually, the nearly 2 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliaries contribute more than 8.6 million hours of volunteerism in the community, including participation in Make A Difference Day and National Volunteer Week. From providing over $3 million in college scholarships and savings bonds to students every year, to encouraging elevation of the Department of Veterans Affairs to the president's cabinet, the VFW is there.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ June is PTSD Awareness Month ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Some wounds are invisible.

For many veterans, the battle continues long after they come homeโ€”in sleepless nights, painful memories, and silent struggles no one else can see.

At VFW Post 9126, we want every veteran fighting PTSD to know: you are not weak, you are not alone, and your life matters.

Check on your brothers and sisters. A simple conversation can save a life.
We fight together. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Excited to see in all the ways Family & Children's Services will help local veterans meet their needs! If you're wanting to talk to someone who understands, this is the place to be. The entire team is made up of Veterans.

Three members of our Connections Veteran Team were in the community this weekend, joining Vet Fest at Life.Church Broken Arrow.

Proud to support and connect with those who have served. Thanks to Tulsa DA Steve Kunzweiler for stopping by.

So awesome!!

So awesome!!

๐ŸŽธโค๏ธ Thank You, BAIVA! โค๏ธ๐ŸŽธ

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Broken Arrow Intertribal Veterans Association (BAIVA) for their generous donation of a left-handed electric bass guitar to our Guitars for Vets Glenpool chapter.

When one of our veterans expressed a desire to learn bass, finding a left-handed instrument became a challenge. Thanks to BAIVA's support, that veteran will now have the opportunity to begin their musical journey and experience the healing power of music.

Partnerships like this make a real difference in the lives of veterans. Your generosity helps us continue our mission of providing free music instruction and instruments to those who have served.

From all of us at Guitars for Vets and the veterans we serveโ€”thank you for believing in our mission and helping us change lives one chord at a time.

As a reminder, we will be at the Jenks Food Truck Festival down around 1st street. This is one of our favorite events of the year. We love you Jenks!

VFW Post 9126 is excited to be part of the Jenks Food Truck Festival! Weโ€™re proud to join our community for a day filled with great food, local vendors, fun, and fellowship.

Events like this are a wonderful opportunity to connect with our neighbors, support local businesses, and share more about what the VFW does for veterans, service members, and our community.

If you see us out there, stop by and say hello! Weโ€™d love to meet you, answer questions about the VFW, and talk about the programs and events we support throughout the year.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the festival and being part of another great Jenks community event! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
