Today is Dravet Syndrome Awareness Day and in honor of that we are wearing purple to show our support!
Lauren is one of the oldest alumni of Promise of Hope Tattnall, celebrating an incredible eight years in recovery. Her journey is a beautiful reminder that healing is possible and that hope can change generations.
Her son, Rowen, holds a special place in our hearts as the very first “Promise of Hope Tattnall recovery baby” born to one of our alumni. Lauren also brought him to work everyday at POHT after she had him where we all got love on him everyday. Those first few months were so precious to us. From the moment he arrived, his sweet smile and precious face captured the hearts of everyone who met him.
None of us could have imagined the challenges that lay ahead. Without warning, seizures entered Rowen’s life, and Lauren and her family were thrust into a journey they never expected. Their world changed in an instant, testing their faith, strength, and resilience in ways they never thought possible.
Yet through every appointment, every uncertainty, and every difficult day, they continue to show what courage looks like. Their story is a powerful reminder that recovery isn’t just about overcoming addiction—it’s about facing life’s unexpected storms with hope, perseverance, and the unwavering support of a community that stands beside you every step of the way.
Because it’s such a challenging condition, families often become very skilled at noticing small changes, preventing triggers, and working closely with doctors. Daily life can involve a lot of planning, but also a lot of resilience.
But what stands out most is not the condition itself—but the support system around Rowen. That kind of steady presence makes a real difference in his life.
