Today is Dravet Syndrome Awareness Day and in honor of that we are wearing purple to show our support!

Lauren is one of the oldest alumni of Promise of Hope Tattnall, celebrating an incredible eight years in recovery. Her journey is a beautiful reminder that healing is possible and that hope can change generations.

Her son, Rowen, holds a special place in our hearts as the very first “Promise of Hope Tattnall recovery baby” born to one of our alumni. Lauren also brought him to work everyday at POHT after she had him where we all got love on him everyday. Those first few months were so precious to us. From the moment he arrived, his sweet smile and precious face captured the hearts of everyone who met him.

None of us could have imagined the challenges that lay ahead. Without warning, seizures entered Rowen’s life, and Lauren and her family were thrust into a journey they never expected. Their world changed in an instant, testing their faith, strength, and resilience in ways they never thought possible.

Yet through every appointment, every uncertainty, and every difficult day, they continue to show what courage looks like. Their story is a powerful reminder that recovery isn’t just about overcoming addiction—it’s about facing life’s unexpected storms with hope, perseverance, and the unwavering support of a community that stands beside you every step of the way.

Because it’s such a challenging condition, families often become very skilled at noticing small changes, preventing triggers, and working closely with doctors. Daily life can involve a lot of planning, but also a lot of resilience.

But what stands out most is not the condition itself—but the support system around Rowen. That kind of steady presence makes a real difference in his life.

Today we had Nail Ministry at Glenvue Nursing Home.

A nail ministry at a nursing home is a simple act of service where volunteers provide basic nail care and companionship to residents. It’s about much more than painting nails—it’s about helping people feel valued, cared for, and connected.

Recovery is about rebuilding one day at a time. Sometimes healing looks like hard conversations, and sometimes it looks like sitting with someone, painting their nails, reminding them they are loved, valued, and worthy of a fresh start.

Take a look at our latest completion!
Congratulations Brittany!

Each resident is given the task to write a goodby letter to their addiction upon completion. It is their way to say anything they want to their addiction and to express all their feelings about what it had done to them and what it will be like to live life without chemicals.

Here is Brittany’s Goodbye Letter:

“Dear Addiction, for my whole life I believed I needed you. I bought your lies over and over. When I felt hurt or lonely or scared I had you to run to and for a long time you gave me relief. You made it all better, until you didn’t. You convinced me to run from my feelings and problems instead of facing them. You took so much more than you ever gave me. You stole my serenity, my dignity, you stripped me of my self respect, and you stole the precious moments with loved ones. You killed my brother and dad. You took my children away from me. You left me completely broken, empty, and ashamed of everything I’d become. I hated myself because of you. At one point I believed I was nothing without you. I was wrong. Today I have a choice. I choose to recover. I choose faith over fear and healing over destruction. I choose to stand firm in love, mercy, and redemption that God has gifted me with. I choose to feel instead of running. I choose to persevere. I choose my family, my children, and my future. I choose me! There will be difficult days and you will try and call my name again. I will call on the name of Jesus and my network. So this is goodbye to the chaos, the guilt, and the shame of the awful person I became while I was trapped by you. You will always be a part of my past, but God is the author of my future. Goodby addiction.

Sincerely, A strong independent woman in recovery”

Brittany

Today is Family Day at Promise of Hope Tattnall!

What is Family Day?

Family Day is a celebration of hope, healing, and restoration. It is a special opportunity for our residents to share their recovery journey with the people who matter most to them.

Through fellowship, education, and meaningful connection, families can witness the growth that recovery makes possible while learning how to support their loved one’s continued success.

Recovery is not just an individual journey—it is a family journey.

One of our groups that we do here at Promise of Hope Tattnall is Serenity Bible. It really helps the residents to align biblical principles with recovery principles.

It is often used to:

* Reflect on personal struggles and victories.
* Learn how faith can support recovery.
* Discuss spiritual principles.
* Build a relationship with God while working the Steps.

It helps us understand our addiction, our character defects, our need for God, and the spiritual principles that support lasting recovery.

I saw this amazing sunset last night and couldn’t resist snapping a picture of it, it literally took my breath away.

Remember that the same God who paints the sky at sunset is still working on your story. Stay the course. Healing, hope, and recovery are worth every mile of the journey.

It’s a reminder that endings can be beautiful too. In recovery, we let go of yesterday, trust God with today, and look forward to the hope of tomorrow

There’s Just Something About Sundays….

Sundays remind us that no matter what the week has held—victories, struggles, mistakes, or growth—God’s grace is still enough. Recovery teaches us to take life one day at a time, and Sunday gives us a chance to pause, reflect, and remember that we don’t walk this journey alone.
