Hi Friends,
Received a note from one of our son Bart's many friends whom we've never even met. Made us feel good, so we figured we could share the good vibes. Cheers.
Joel and Dayle

"Happy 41st Birthday, Bart!
You’re still here in all the best ways, especially through your parents, who keep your spark working overtime. The Bart Foundation continues to do what you always did naturally: lift people up, make the hard stuff feel possible, and add a little humor where it’s needed most. Here’s to your family, carrying your light with grace, grit, and that unmistakable Bart charm."

Did you know the National Library of Medicine maintains a website of all clinical trials worldwide for TBI treatment? While not all trials involve the alternative therapies we advocate, there’s still a great deal of opportunity to consider if you're searching for possible interventions. Our website will take you directly to a page for all TBI studies currently recruiting - and as of the date of this post, there are 355 possible opportunities. Have questions? Reach out! We always try our best to help.

The BART Foundation’s mission is to promote better outcomes for brain injury survivors by answering three questions: which alternative therapies are likely to work, where can they be found, and how can they be afforded? One of the ways we fulfill our mission is by carefully monitoring global resea...

While this isn’t a story about TBI/ABI, it is a story about the power of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and its ability to promote healing. We encourage everyone to watch this 3-minute news segment and share it with their personal networks and the healthcare professionals they know. Physician ignorance in the US is one reason why the adoption of HBOT by health insurers and state legislatures has been so slow. There is a vast body of evidence and clinical experience demonstrating the safety and efficacy of HBOT as treatment for brain injuries, and we need to spread the word and share our stories. If you have questions about HBOT or anything TBI/ABI, please reach out. We'll try to help as best we can.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is one of the safe, alternative therapies the BART Foundation believes may help brain injury survivors. One way we fulfill our mission is by carefully watching global research and clinical trial outcomes and sharing that information in user-friendly language with th...

Military families and wounded heroes, struggling with the outcomes of TBI and PTSD, have already sacrificed so much. Why aren't more states making affordable access to HBOT available? Read more on our website, and if you reside in New York State, please support and share our efforts. Have questions? Let us know!

During the Christmas holidays of 2001, my wife and I were plunged into a parent’s worst nightmare – a car accident resulting in our teenager’s traumatic brain injury. After a month-long coma, Bart gradually emerged with disabling cognitive, emotional, and physical deficits. Following eight mon...

Trying to explain TBI/ABI to a friend, family member, or co-worker can be challenging. We know because we've been in your shoes. Each year, over 1.7 million Americans experience a traumatic brain injury, and over 800,000 Americans suffer a stroke (a leading cause of non-traumatic acquired brain injury). This article was co-written by members of the BART Advisory Board and can be a helpful resource. Feel free to share it! And remember, you are not alone in the search for healing. Don't hesitate to reach out to us with questions. We try to help as best we can.

Understanding brain injuries: What is an acquired brain injury? An acquired brain injury (ABI) is an injury to the brain that occurs after birth. It is not hereditary, congenital, degenerative, or induced by birth trauma. There are two basic types of acquired brain injury: traumatic and non-traumati...

Transcranial LED light therapy, sometimes called photobiomodulation, already has some FDA-approved applications, but these do not include TBI/ABI. But a growing body of research exists that shows their effectiveness. This 2024 article in Bioengineering and Translational Medicine (highly technical; we provide an easier-to-understand synopsis on our website) shows that PBM could be a promising non-pharmacological avenue to promote recovery after mild brain injury. Have questions? Reach out, and we'll try to help as best we can.

Transcranial LED light therapy, sometimes called photobiomodulation, is one of the safe alternative therapies the BART Foundation believes may help brain injury survivors. Like Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), there are already some FDA-approved applications, but these do not include TBI/ABI. The B...

We wanted to share an interview Joel did last year with Dr. Daniel Avesar. Daniel is a TBI survivor and the author of an educational series called Building Brain Awareness. If you find his content helpful, please subscribe and share with your networks. Sharing information and resources is a primary emphasis of the BART Foundation, and we always appreciate your help!

If you enjoyed last week's video about Omega-3s, please visit our website for Dr. Michael Lewis' full protocol for using Omega-3s to support TBI/ABI recovery. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out! We're always here to help as best we can.

Omega-3s are widely available, but not of uniform quality. Dr. Michael Lewis, a member of the Brain Health Education & Research Institute and a thought leader in this area of research, recommends using only fish oils that have been double-distilled and, preferably, reconstituted in their original tr...
