Celebrating the fastest school year ever with the best crew of people I know 🤍

We were missing a couple but we had a fun night playing together and reminiscing on all of the things we love about our students.

These folks are the best of the best. They love with their whole hearts. They believe our kids are capable of anything… andddd # they put up with me and all of my crazy ideas.

Long gone are the days of just Karma and I. The HEART Center has grown to be the amazing program it is because of this crew and I couldn’t be more proud to know them.

Cheers to an amazing school year and summer camp here we come 🥂

One of the things we are often asked is what does school actually look like with us- horses might be our secret ingredient, but no it’s not allllll horses.

Here is an example of a simple vocab project we did today with one of our littles. What my rambling doesn’t capture is that this was not an activity designed for one profile of student- it was an activity for all of the kids, but tools like letterboards allow students of all communication profiles to participate at an age appropriate level. This kid recognized that immediately and was stoked to show what he knew.

We are so blessed to have the best community partners for our students to work with!! Thank you Advance Community for all of the amazing opportunities you provide!! Our students love coming each week!

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Advance Community. Each month, we recognize those who go above and beyond in supporting our mission and this month, we’re proud to celebrate The HEART Center as our Volunteer Group of the Month!

For the past two years, the HEART Center students have been a consistent and dedicated presence at Advance. Each week, 6–8 students join us to support our Stove to Table program and assist wherever they’re needed around the office. Their commitment and teamwork to serve make a meaningful impact on the families we support.

To the HEART Center team, thank you for showing up every Thursday with energy for service. We’re so grateful for your dedication to our community!

My heart is exploding and my mind is swirling- So. Many. Possibilities!! Week 1 exceeded all of my expectations.

Mixed ages, mixed abilities and an expansive curriculum. Doing what we do best with the horses by our side we regulate nervous systems and make learning fun with multiple ways for students to communicate their thinking. ALWAYS.

My babies grew up into young adults and now it’s time to take everything they’ve taught me and bring in the new generation.

Since we re-launched our inclusive overnight camps at Camp Colley in 2024, we have given out $98,900 in camp scholarships… WHAT?!?!?!

I’m seriously so proud to share that number and honestly still a little shocked that we made that possible. A few major gifts helped us get here, but at the heart of everything we do is this: no child is ever turned away because of financial burden.

That’s who we are.
That’s The HEART Center.
Inclusion, belonging, and access- always.

Now that we’ve hit this milestone, it’s time to make sure we can keep saying “yes” to every family who needs support. Camp shouldn’t be something kids miss out on. Not here. Not ever.

So today for Giving Tuesday, we’re growing the Camp Scholarship Fund for 2026. Camp requests are already rolling in, and we want to know that without a doubt, we can ALWAYS say yes to a kiddo in need.
