“How can art carry memory, identity, and cultural inheritance across generations?”

For artist Rafael Megall, these questions have long been central to his practice. Born in Yerevan and now based in Los Angeles, Megall draws from personal and collective memory, incorporating Armenian ornament and recurring figurative forms into paintings that reflect on identity, transformation, and the ways cultural memory continues to evolve.

Megall’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, “Idols In Bloom,” opens September 24 at Mek Contemporary in Glendale.
