Jesus looked at the crowds and saw something others missed.

A harvest.

Not a problem to solve. Not a statistic to measure. A harvest ready to be gathered.

Then He gave His followers a surprising command. He didn't first tell them to build bigger plans or better strategies. He said: "Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." (Matthew 9:38 ESV)

Prayer has always been where mission begins, but it doesn't end there.

As God moves in the hearts of His people, prayer becomes action.

Some are called to go. Others are called to send.

Every generation asks the same question: "What's the best method?"
We should instead be asking: "What kind of person is using it?"

Methods have always changed. Paul preached in synagogues, marketplaces, homes, and lecture halls. Jesus taught from hillsides, fishing boats, dinner tables, and dusty roads. The methods changed, but the message didn't.

Neither did the character required to faithfully carry it.

Culture is constantly changing, and wise missionaries learn to adapt with humility and discernment. But the qualities that make someone trustworthy (integrity, courage, humility, faithfulness, compassion) never go out of style.

Methods may open a door, but character determines what happens once you're invited inside.
