Due to expected high temperatures and heat indices, NYC cooling centers will be open tomorrow, 5/19 and Wednesday, 5/20. Cooling centers are air-conditioned facilities such as libraries, community centers, or senior centers, that are open to the public during heat emergencies. As Mother’s Day approaches, I wanted to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible women across our organization who wear so many hats each and every day.

To the mothers on our team; thank you for the love, patience, strength, and sacrifice you pour into your families while continuing to show up wholeheartedly for the people we support. The balance you maintain is nothing short of extraordinary, and it does not go unnoticed.

And to all of the women in our organization; whether you are raising children, caring for loved ones, mentoring others, or simply showing up every day with compassion and dedication, you are truly the backbone of not only our organization, but of the entire IDD field.

The work we do is deeply rooted in care, advocacy, patience, and heart; and so many of those qualities are reflected in the remarkable women who help move our mission forward every single day. You uplift individuals, families, coworkers, and communities in ways that often happen quietly behind the scenes, but the impact is immeasurable.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate all forms of motherhood, caregiving, and nurturing leadership. We honor the women who lead with empathy, resilience, and unwavering commitment, even on the hardest days.

Thank you for all that you do for the people we support, for one another, and for EveryoneNY as a whole. We are stronger because of you.

The 2026 Brooklyn Family Support Fair is returning to Brooklyn College Student Center! By registering to attend, you can meet over 70 agencies that offer support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Brooklyn! Learn more about eligibility, benefits, transportation services, clinical services, transition services, children’s services, adult services and so much more! You can even sign up for some of the eligible services right on the spot while you are there!

We are so happy to announce that the Brooklyn Developmental Disabilities Council is returning to Brooklyn College on Thursday June 18th for the 2026 Family Support Fair from 930am - 2pm.

Last year we set a record in terms of attendees and agencies in attendance and we hope to break that this year.
