The project along La Crescenta Ave is bringing real safety improvements to nearby residents and families of Elementary School. This specific intersection change provides multiple benefits:

- pedestrians only need to cross once instead of twice to get to school
- slip lanes are removed, ensuring safer turns from the side street to La Crescenta Ave
- added landscaping near the school entrance
- more perpendicular (instead of offset/angled) approach to La Crescenta Ave, which increases driver visibility to pedestrians and oncoming traffic
- a new center turn lane for receiving traffic from side streets, reducing head-on and broadside collisions
- reduces confusion by simplifying the intersection. It used to intersect 3 streets and now is only 2.

Improvements like this demonstrate the city’s commitment AND potential for addressing actual street safety issues. Looking forward to sharing more infrastructure updates that make our streets safer!

Did you know an In N Out is being proposed at the corner of Pacific and Burchett, right by residential homes and the 134 freeway?

High-volume drive thrus create a lot of congestion and induce traffic as we have seen at the existing Harvey location and other popular coffee shop drive thrus. While Glendale currently doesn’t allow drive thrus for sensible reasons in the downtown area, they are allowed elsewhere, leaving the rest of the city vulnerable to increased congestion from new drive thru projects. This is the opposite of creating communities that are more walkable for people using transit, kids getting to school, and parents driving to work.

Join our March 4 ACTION ALERT (link in bio) to ask City Council to stop approving new drive thrus to mitigate our growing congestion and traffic problems in Glendale.

JOIN METRO’S MEETING ON SUNDAY

Metro is improving transit across LA County, and we need your help! The North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project will connect Los Angeles, Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena, improving access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations. As part of this effort, Metro is developing a North Hollywood to Pasadena BRT First/Last Mile Plan, to help connect transit riders to the future BRT stations.

“First/Last Mile” refers to the first and last part of a rider’s journey where riders walk, bike, or roll to or from their nearest transit station or bus stop. Whether you walk, bike, or roll, we want your thoughts on improving safety and convenience around four selected stations.

Your input can shape enhancements like:
Street trees and landscaping
Sidewalk and crosswalk improvements
Lighting, seating, and other amenities
Bike lanes and bike parking

What’s Happening:
LA Metro will present draft First/Last Mile recommendations for the streets surrounding the future BRT station at Central Ave/Lexington Dr. We want to hear your feedback!

This evening, Glendale City Council voted to remove the citys only parking-protected bike lane. Despite a recommendation from staff to make modifications that would have addressed community concerns, Council voted 4-1 for Option 3, total removal of the demonstration project on Brand Blvd between Glenoaks and Mountain. The motion for Option 3 was voted on by Asatryan, Gharpetian, Kassakhian, and Najarian. Brotman voted against the motion.
