Participants can adopt their own duck by making a $5.00 donation per duck. Adopting 9 ducks pays for a child car safety seat to a needy family. Adopting 20 ducks provides a 3-month supply of rice and beans for 9 homeless families in Southern California. Over $13,000 in prize money will be distributed to the winning duck adopters. Also at the park are dogs – lots of dogs. The Glendale K-9 unit, which is totally supported by donated funds, hosts an event that allows the public to witness what the work police dogs do in the field and how well they are trained. Each adopted duck helps in a significant way towards improving the lives of children living in Los Angeles County. The Glendale Kiwanis Club is a charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) for the benefit of numerous non-profit organizations and causes. Previous “Duck Races” have raised approximately $800,000. For more information, visit the website at:www.ducks4kids.org.
