Bloy House, The Episcopal Theological School at Los Angeles

Bloy House, The Episcopal Theological School at Los Angeles A theological school in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. We offer lay education, Anglican Studies, and Diaconal Studies programs.

Bloy House is currently charting a new course in its education services for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. We are developing a robust lay formation program to help lay leaders throughout the diocese discern their ministry, grow their faith, and explore ministry opportunities. The work of creating this new curriculum is funded by a generous grant from Trinity Church Wall Street. In addition,

we are working closely with the diocesan Commission on Ministry in designing a new diaconal formation curriculum a new Anglican Studies curriculum and additional courses for clergy candidates’ pre-ordination requirements. We are continuing to offer engaging formation courses for lay and ordained leaders to meet the challenges of our unique and flourishing diocese. In the 2022-23 academic year, we will complete our MDiv curriculum for students already in the program while developing our new curriculum.

How is understanding the story of your own faith journey important for sharing Christ with others? How did Jesus use storytelling in his ministry? Can learning about storytelling help your preaching or teaching? How do we approach evangelism in the Episcopal church? We’ll explore this and many other topics in this fun and engaging class. This class is required for licensing of Evangelists and recommended for Preachers and Pastoral Leaders. Even if you are not pursuing licensing, this class will have much to offer for general faith formation. Facilitated by Rev. Dina Ferguson, retired rector of St. Michael’s in El Segundo. Prior to ordination she worked as a training consultant across a broad spectrum of industries. She holds B.A. and M.S. degrees from USC, has a D.Min. from United Theological Seminary, and a Certificate of Anglican Studies from CDSP.
