Goldensun is an intentional, faith-based community with a mission for serving adults with developmental disabilities capable of living independently with services and staff. Our passion is to extend Christ’s love to individuals with developmental disabilities, empowering them toward increased independence and enriched lives through interdependent relationships. Goldensun is founded on a culture of community where members experience a healthy, independent environment and simultaneously benefit from shared transportation, community activities and friendship with peers in their neighborhood. This is accomplished with a mutually supportive team that includes our members, their families, and a dedicated, trained, and caring staff.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and in the spirit of the month, we want to offer a reminder that inclusion starts with recognizing ability, contribution, and potential. At Goldensun Peace Ministries, that's something we work on year-round rather than just one month a year.

Growth takes a different shape for every adult in our homes, whether it's building a daily routine, practicing a life skill like cooking, taking part in a community activity, or exploring an interest in work with our staff alongside them. We don't push anyone toward a goal they haven't chosen for themselves, and the confidence they gain is truly invaluable.

Part of being a good neighbor means making room for everyone, and National Good Neighbor Day on Monday, September 28th is a fitting time to say thank you. The families, churches, volunteers, donors, and community partners around Glendale help make Goldensun Peace Ministries a place where adults with developmental disabilities feel safe, respected, and at home.

If you're feeling inspired to be the best neighbor you can be, here are a few ideas to incorporate into your day-to-day:

▪️ Make space for people of all abilities at community events
▪️ Volunteer a few hours with a local organization
▪️ Share local resources with a family who might need them
▪️ Support accessible transportation where you live

We just wanted to share a few pictures and videos from last night and say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You truly have no idea how much the GCU students and team mean to Goldensun Peace Ministries. ✨

Our members absolutely love when you all come on Thursdays. It has genuinely become one of the highlights of their week, and they are always talking about how much fun they had afterward. The relationships, laughter, encouragement, prayer, and fellowship you bring mean more than we can put into words. 🥳

What makes it even more meaningful is the way your students reflect Christ through simply being present, loving our members well, praying with them, and building genuine relationships. You truly leave behind the aroma of Christ through your service, kindness, and joy, and that impact reaches far beyond the time you spend with us each week.

Thank you, to the entire GCU team for continuing to show up, serve our community, and love on our members so faithfully. They thoroughly enjoy every moment with you all, and we are incredibly grateful for the joy, fellowship, and encouragement you bring into their lives each week. 🙏

We have some encouraging news from Goldensun Peace Ministries: we've been awarded a federal grant of $108,800 toward a raised-roof van lift replacement! We're now raising the $19,200 local match that makes it possible.

Accessible transportation isn't only for special occasions. It's how the adults in our homes get to habilitation programs, daily activities, appointments, and the weekly outings that keep them part of the community around them. A vehicle with a working lift is often the difference between a resident joining a regular activity and missing it week after week.

Every contribution moves us closer to the down payment, and no gift is too small to make a difference. Donate toward the van match at goldensunonline.org/donate.

Good food, good conversation, and time together; that's what our monthly potluck is all about! Goldensun Peace Ministries hosts one on the first Tuesday of every month, and the next is Tuesday, September 1.

Families, supporters, and community members are all welcome, and these gatherings are one of the easiest ways to get to know the adults we serve outside of a scheduled meeting or a service update. Conversations tend to come more easily in a setting like that.
