📣Supervsn and The Broad are celebrating Juneteenth with a full day of music, art, and the launch of a new capsule collection.

Juneteenth: Supervsn x The Broad, Friday, June 19, 12 – 5 pm (Free) 🎟

Supervsn and The Broad come together for a free day of live DJ sets, open galleries, and the in-person debut of a new limited-edition Supervsn x The Broad capsule collection, in celebration of Juneteenth.

General admission tickets provide access to the full event, including free all-day access to Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind, tours of the special exhibition and the collection galleries, DJ sets by House of 73, FRIDAY, and Kailyn Hype throughout the afternoon, and a photobooth in the lobby. The popular Lauren Halsey x Supervsn capsule will also be available in-store.

A year ago Mona Shafer Edwards walked into my class room. Since then her illustrations have captivated us because we know their back stories! Now you have a chance to hear some of these stories of OJ, Michael Jackson, and others from someone who is there with a ring side seat. She will take you from fashion to murder. She is currently working on the Palisades arson case. This is one meeting you don't want to miss!

This is also our last BAA Membership Meeting until September. Before we take our summer break, come spend an evening with fellow artists, enjoy a fascinating presentation, and celebrate the creative community that makes the BAA so special.

Hello Members & Community,

I wanted to provide an update regarding the new logo that was selected through our recent member voting process.

Since the logo was unveiled, thoughtful questions and concerns have been raised regarding the use of artificial intelligence in its creation. As a result, the Board has decided to pause implementation of the new logo while we take time to have a broader conversation about AI and what it means for the Burbank Art Association.

This is a complex topic with passionate viewpoints on many sides. Some see AI as a valuable creative tool, while others have concerns about its impact on artists and the artistic process. These are important conversations, and we believe they deserve thoughtful consideration rather than a rushed decision.

Over the coming months, the Board will continue discussing this topic and exploring how AI aligns with the values, mission, and future of our organization. We also hope to dedicate one of our upcoming membership meetings—currently planned for September, or October if needed—to an open discussion about AI and its role in the arts.

On a personal note, I have appreciated the passion this topic has sparked within our membership. It has been encouraging to see so many members share their thoughts, concerns, ideas, and perspectives. Whether you are excited about the possibilities of AI, cautious about its impact, or still exploring what it means, your willingness to participate in the conversation reflects the care and commitment you have for our artistic community.

The BAA has always been strengthened by the creativity, perspectives, and engagement of its members. As we move through this conversation together, I encourage us to remain curious, respectful, and open to learning from one another.

🎉Pack your sense of adventure and join us for the “Safari” Reception this Sunday, June 14, from 5p-7p at the GEO Gallery.

Thirty-nine artists have embarked on this creative journey, submitting an incredible 79 works of art, each offering a unique interpretation of the Safari theme. The variety, imagination, and energy throughout the gallery make this show a true artistic expedition.

Come explore, celebrate our artists, and enjoy an evening of creativity, conversation, and community. As always, if you’d like to bring a small snack or beverage to share, it is greatly appreciated.

And those who love to lend a hand, we are always grateful for volunteers who can arrive a little early to help set up (4:30p) or stay a few minutes afterward to help clean up.

📣🗞🎨 BREAKING NEWS: The new logo for the Burbank Art Association has been revealed! We are thrilled to unveil it here for the public! We had the honor of showcasing it at our big Spring Show at the Geo Gallery and again at the May BAA Member’s Meeting, but this one is for all of you!

We were really impressed with all of the amazing submissions we received from old and new members alike. About 30 designs were received, and 2 rounds of voting helped us narrow it down to one. We’d like to thank all who submitted, all who voted, and all who shared their input. We also want to say that the previous logo has served us well for many years and will always have a special place in our hearts and in our history.

Artist and BAA President, Karen Sachs, is the creator of the winning logo. She was thrilled to have this distinction in the Burbank Art Association legacy. She champions the concept of art being multi-faceted with many mediums including the new digital age.

Cheers to the ongoing support of artists in Burbank, including this new era.

📣This Wednesday, May 20, is an important and exciting BAA Membership Meeting — one you will not want to miss.

🗳 We will be voting in the 2026–2027 Board of Directors, AND we will also be doing a second unveiling of our brand-new BAA logo for those who missed the Spring Show reception. 🎉

🎤 Our presenter for the evening is the fascinating Barbara Wetzel, who will share the beautiful Ukrainian tradition of pysanka — intricately decorated eggs passed down through generations. Barbara learned the art from her grandmother and has spent decades preserving and sharing this rich cultural tradition through teaching, storytelling, and community involvement with the Ukrainian Cultural Center.
Her presentation promises to be creative, meaningful, and visually stunning. If you fall in love with her work, Barbara will also have eggs available for purchase (cash or checks only).
This meeting is about art, community, leadership, and celebrating where BAA is headed next. I hope you will come be part of it.
