After approximately two decades of service, Unified Young Armenians is officially closing its doors. We make this announcement with profound pride and heavy hearts.
From organizing massive marches for justice and human rights to fostering civic engagement and community service, UYA has been a driving force for Armenian-American youth — a platform where young voices could be heard and make a tangible impact.
We reflect on twenty years with gratitude for what we built together:
• The annual Armenian Genocide commemorative events in Hollywood — the largest of their kind outside the Republic of Armenia
• Our role as a principal organizer of the Centennial Commemoration, which drew 160,000 participants
• A free Armenian Saturday School, established in 2007 and sustained for a decade, educating 750+ students in language, history, and culture
• The designation of Artsakh Street in Glendale — ensuring Artsakh remains woven into our city’s cultural fabric
• Candidate forums, educational television, human rights advocacy, science classes, blood drives, and countless hours volunteering alongside fellow nonprofits
None of it would have been possible without our members, volunteers, donors, and supporters. Your passion was the heartbeat of this organization.
Deepest thanks to our partner organizations, with special gratitude to the Armenian Society of Los Angeles. To the public servants who championed our causes, and to the City of Glendale, GPD & GFD, and the City of Los Angeles, LAPD & LAFD for partnering with us to ensure public safety at our large-scale events.
We make this transition acknowledging the profound geopolitical shifts across the world and the evolving needs of our community. The avenues through which we advocate must also evolve.
While UYA is sunsetting, the spirit of our mission remains unbroken. Our members will remain active and steadfast in their support of the Armenian homeland.
To the next generation: the time has come for you to step up. Organize. Innovate. Keep fighting for justice, survival, and the prosperity of our nation. We pass the torch.
In solidarity,
Unified Young Armenians 🕯️
