It is a non-profit organization consistent of over 50 volunteer singing members. Sayat Nova Choir is a division of Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Inc. The choir is based in Los Angeles, and was established in May of 2009. The choir’s elected Executive Committee with its subcommittees, oversees the operations and the finances of the choir. The ensemble is currently directed by
professional Music Director/Conductor Gayane Baghdasaryan and Maestro Mikayel Avetisyan both of whom are highly talented and accredited musicians. The objective of the choir is to learn, promote and preserve authentic folkloric songs, art and music. The choir also strives to discover and encourage young new talent, whether they are singers or musicians, by discovering and promoting them in public forums. The choir is always interested in talented singers with good voices and welcomes their participation. Those who become Sayat Nova Choir members are taught the art of singing and are trained in its techniques.
