With 200-plus successful test flights, the Ehang 184 autonomous aerial vehicle (in other words, a person-sized drone) has permission to fly, but its first operation probably won’t be in the United States.

It has become quite evident that the next generation of drones will be carrying people. The Fifth Element may not be that far in the future after all... It is more realistic with pre-programmed drones flying people from Point A to Point B in cities than for us to have flying cars with the "human factor" causing lots of variables and potential hazards. It will be interesting to see how this develops over the next couple of decades!

A loss of one of the most legendary aviation icons in history, who passed away at the age of 94. All of us in the aviation community owe a lot of gratitude to Mr Hoover and what he brought to the world of aviation. Chuck Yeager, a close friend of his, mentioned that Bob was the best pilot he ever met. I had the opportunity to meet him at his house in Palos Verdes a couple of years back and though his body was aging, his mental acuity and lucidity was amazing. He told me stories from his youth flying a Piper Cub and from the war, with such details as it could have been yesterday. We sure will miss you Mr Hoover!
