We've been announced as a Silver Winner for The 3rd Annual Anthem Awards in Recognition of our Mission-Driven Work! 🙌
In the summer of 2021, three people were swept out to sea off the coast of Santa Cruz County. In the aftermath of this unprecedented surge in water fatalities, reached out to the California Fire Prevention Organization (CFPO) for help. CFPO created a forward-facing, public messaging campaign to teach the basics of to the public through PSAs, and an internal training initiative for all County first responders, teaching the effectiveness of unified command in water emergencies.
“The were born out of the desire to amplify and celebrate the voices that are creating and to inspire others to take action,” said Patricia McLoughlin, Anthem Awards General Manager. “In a year where so much is at stake, it is incredibly important to recognize impact work and celebrate the progress happening globally. Congratulations to all of this year’s Winners.”
“The work we were recognized for by the Anthem Awards in Santa Cruz stretched over two years,” said Cameron Barrett, CFPO Director, and one of the three program designers. “We knew that making an outward facing education program designed for the public, and an inward facing program designed for first responders, would be the most effective way to help Santa Cruz with water safety. And we knew that visual media would be the best way to reach a diverse public, and the most efficient way to train .”"
