Prerequisite for all Merit Badges are required to proceed. The Scout needs to have done this basic preparation for the class to move forward together.
Be familiar with the requirements of the MB. Be prepared to discuss the career opportunities associated with the Merit Badges.
WHEN: SEPTEMBER 24TH, 2016
CHECK-IN STARTS AT 08:30. Classes Start at 09:00. All classes should be completed by 4 PM

ANIMATION Merit Badge: Plan your animation using thumbnail sketches and/or layout drawings.

GAME DESIGN Merit Badge: Understand the four types of game play. Understand 5 of the 17 game design terms. Define, Intellectual Property. Pick a game where you can change the rules or objectives. Prepare to discuss how the rule change affects the game. Design a game, use a game design notebook. Include a vision statement.

MOVIEMAKING Merit Badge: Bring a three to four paragraph story treatment. Prepare a storyboard, rough sketches of your movie.

PHOTOGRAPHY Merit Badge: Have a current Cyber Chip. Be prepared to share with your counselor five photographs that you have taken in accordance with requirements 4, 5 and 6. Requirement 7, using photographs not used if 4, 5 or 6 to produce a visual story

SAVE THE OAKS
CAMP VERDUGO OAKS

Do you love Camp Verdugo Oaks? Does your pack or troop want to help preserve the oak trees in camp? Because of the severe drought in the region the oak trees at CVO are dying quickly, in fact if you are not aware we have had to cut down four of the oaks and trimmed back a dozen more in the last week to make the camp safe for you to use.

The arborist who is working on the trees suggested that if we pour a gallon of water a week on the roots of the trees it would probably help save a significant number of oaks that are in distress. So here is where the Save the Oaks idea comes in: Each weekend we are looking for a unit or individuals that would be willing to go to CVO and bring 30-40 gallon jugs of water to pour on the root systems of the trees in the main parts of camp. In fact, if there are certain trees that you would like to adopt that may be an option as well.
