WE HAD A FABULOUS GOLF TOURNAMENT MONDAY!

Bill and I would like to thank all of you who came out to play and support DocWalks4Animals.org and the California Wildlife Center!

The accounting will still take a few days to complete but I think this was our best tournament ever!

I would like to give special thanks to our Planning Committee without whom we could not have pulled this off:

Cindy Carlburg, Betty Anderson, Margaret Evans, Helen Hollmann, Andrea Dannegger and Bill Metzdorf.

Thank you all for your tireless work to make this a great event!

It was a perfect day for golf! Mother Nature was kind to drop the temperature out of triple digits and keep it mostly in the mid-70s for the entire day. A little rain before the tournament left the greens very receptive. Glendora Country Club had a pristine course awaiting players with carpet-like fairways and greens.

Special thanks to MO MARTIN, LPGA champion for joining us!

I’d like to re-acknowledge our winners of the day:

CLOSEST TO THE PIN

Women: Sandy Panduro

Men: Michael Sabo

LONGEST DRIVE

Women: Natalie Morgan

Men: Mark Prieto

FIRST PLACE TEAMS BY FLIGHT:

Women: Marion Darling, Patsy Grant, Jeanette Martin, Hilary Hodgkins

Men: Mark Prieto, Efran Prieto, Christian Escobebo, Angel Hernandez

Mixed Team: Don Martin, Maggie Knight, Larry Lapucia, and Bill Metzdorf

MONEY BALL Winners: Lenore Tarver, Terrance Cagandalian, Art Sanders, Minnie Blair

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!

We had a photographer on the course who got pictures of all the teams, so once she gives us those photos, we will post them and let you know how to access them.

Thanks again for a successful tournament and for coming out to support our California wildlife!

On Monday, September 16, 2024, the DocWalks4Animals Annual Golf Tournament will be held at the Glendora Country Club in Glendora, CA.

Proceeds this year will again go to the California Wildlife Center (CWC). CWC is the premier wildlife medical treatment and rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles. Last year, our tournament raised $30,000 to support their important work and helped to feed their rescued wildlife. This year we’re hoping to raise much much more!

Please consider sponsoring a foursome and supporting DocWalks4Animals.org. Register before August 15th to take advantage of our Early Bird rate!
It is a great opportunity to share a day of golf with your friends, colleagues, or best clients. And it is a Win-Win for local wildlife!

Even if you cannot play in the tournament, please consider donating to this worthy cause. DocWalks4Animals is an official 501.c.3 nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
Thank you in advance for your consideration. We hope to see you there!

Doc walks for the environment on vacation !
A lovely week’s vacation in St. Andrews, Scotland. Dr. Monica was up every morning at 4:30 am and she and I (her twin sister) were walking along the beaches and through the beautiful little town by 530 a.m. Unfortunately the public trash cans are designed in such a way that when they are full, the flap covers often get stuck open and leave an easy access for crows and fulmars to pick through. -- Which they do!! (Although sadly I think the plastic and glass bottles and cans and cigarette butts were not left by scavenging birds.)
So Monica and I walked with rubber gloves and garbage bags and did clean ups on our morning strolls. The first day we each had over 8,000 steps before 7:00am and two full bags of trash that we didn’t want ending up in the North Sea. We took a different route each morning and started our days feeling fabulous!
I called us the "Litter Ridder Twins".😁

"Hi Everyone! Happy Thanksgiving!
It’s me, Dr. Monica from DocWalks4Animals. Thank you again to everyone who participated in and/ or donated to our Charity Golf Tournament this year at Brookside Golf Course. It was a tremendous success!
Our beneficiary this year is the Wildlife Learning Center in Sylmar. The WLC is home to more than 100 displaced or rescued wild animals. Their mission is to provide public education to inspire people to care for wildlife and environmental conservation.
They were in great need of an ultrasound machine for their medical clinic. Thanks to your incredible generosity, DocWalks4Animals was able to purchase this state-of- the-art color doppler ultrasound machine and this custom trolley cart for them. The unit is completely portable and comes with 2 ultrasound probes to diagnose almost any veterinary problem that the animals might face.
Bill and I will have the privilege of presenting this to the WLC later today. Thank you again to all of you and we hope that you will join us for next year’s DocWalks4Animals Golf Tournament and continue to support our wildlife conservation efforts.
Happy Thanksgiving and stay safe!
Bye!"

Two LPGA Champions Highlight the 2nd Annual DocWalks4Animals Charity Golf Tournament
Mo Martin, 2014 Women’s British Open Champion, and Ilhee Lee, 2013 Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic Champion, led the field of 72 golfers in the Second Annual DocWalks4Animals Golf Tournament at Brookside Golf Club. These LPGA Champions put on a clinic for the foursomes fortunate enough to win an opportunity to play nine holes with them. Ilhee and Mo demonstrated the skills that made them champions.
DocWalks4Animals was founded by Dr. Monica Metzdorf, a local pediatric urologist, who has a passion for animals. Its mission is to financially support wildlife and environmental conservation efforts.
Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit the Wildlife Learning Center by helping them purchase a much-needed ultrasound machine for the care of their resident animals.
Congratulations to the winning team of Fernando Rios, Joe Lopez, Andrew Varela, and Royce Kirkland. Our “Closest to the Pin” winners were Ileana Shaw and Celia Milius for the ladies and Andrew Varela for the men. Our “Longest Drive” champions were Stacey Holdredge for the ladies and Mark Pollard for the men.
Docwalks4Animals.org would like to express its sincere gratitude for the incredible members of the LA Foothill Cities Chapter of the LPGA Amateurs who helped make the tournament great success through their hard work, participation, volunteerism, and financial support and to everyone who came out to play in the tournament.
For more photos and information about the tournament or if you wish to donate, please check out our website at www.docwalks4animals.org.
