Dino Valley is filled with big distances in the 100 mile and 100k, but the biggest stories aren’t always about Sauropod-sized mileage.
They are about the runner who kept putting one foot in front of the other all night. They are about the strangers who become friends between Fenceline and Cedar Brake aid stations.

They are also about the runner who adjusted the goal, learned from the day and came home ready to try again.

Extraordinary doesn’t have one pace, distance, or finish time.
At Dino Valley, it begins with the courage to start.
What would make your Dino Valley experience extraordinary?

Maybe you want to go farther than you ever have.
Maybe you want to return after time away.
Maybe your goal is to walk the climbs, manage your nutrition and finish with enough energy to smile for the photo.

The right goal doesn’t have to impress anyone else. It only has to mean something to you.

Choose the race that meets you where you are—and gives you a reason to keep moving toward where you want to be.
What would make you proud at your next finish line?

People may find Dino Valley because of a distance, a date, or a race that fits their next goal. BUT that isn’t always why they come back.

They come back for the familiar faces at check-in. The volunteer who recognizes them at an aid station. The friendships built over long miles and late nights. The family waiting at the finish. The feeling of returning to a place where their goal matters—whatever that goal happens to be.

Every returning runner adds another chapter to the history of this race celebrating 10 years old this year and helps welcome the person experiencing one for the first time.
If you’ve run Dino Valley before, tell us: What keeps bringing you back?

By the time race participants arrive at the starting line, race day has already been underway for a while.

Race packets are stuffed, and supplies are loaded in the truck. Courses have been measured, checked, and marked. Aid station supplies are prepared. Race packets are handed out race morning, and the race director has given the pre-race briefing. The RD has walked through the plan - and then walked through it again - all before the race starts!

The Active Joe events are built by runners who understand how much the details matter when you’re tired, hungry, or deep into unfamiliar territory.

That doesn’t mean every race day will be perfect. It means every decision begins with the runner experience and a team that genuinely cares about getting it right.

What part of race day have you never thought about until now?

There isn't just one way to run an ultra.
Some people chase PRs.
Some hike every climb.
Some spend a little extra time at the aid station swapping stories over peanut butter and pickle juice.
Some race the clock.
Some simply want to see what they're capable of.
Every one of those experiences belongs out here.

That's the beauty of trail running. It's not about running every step or finishing first. It's about finding your own adventure, moving at your own pace, and crossing the finish line with a story that's entirely yours.

However you choose to experience Dino Valley, you'll find people cheering you on every step of the way.

Every runner bib tells a different story.
-Some runners are chasing their dreams and their first finish line
-Some have tons of ultras behind them and keep coming back because this community feels like home.
-Some are volunteering all weekend, handing out snacks, filling bottles, and cheering until the very last runner comes through.
-Some are family members who never miss a chance to celebrate someone they love.

Different goals, different journeys and one finish line.

That's what makes Dino Valley special. No matter why you show up, you become part of something bigger than yourself.

đź’š Who's someone that inspires you every race weekend? Give them a shoutout in the comments.
