Yesterday was a day of celebration as we broke ground on Lighthouse Christian School’s new Secondary School campus! This exciting step forward is only possible because of the generosity of Covenant Mercies supporters who have invested in the lives of fatherless children in Zambia.

One of the most moving moments of the ceremony came from the school’s head boy, who shared:

“To Aunty Zicky, who would have thought you and Pastor Chanda starting Lighthouse with only 6 children 21 years ago would now bring you to a double story high school?

Who would have thought your vision would touch this many lives and change this community?

We are standing here breaking ground today on something we didn’t see, but God saw it.

Thank you for believing in us and giving us this great opportunity. And for that, we promise that we shall endeavor to work hard, concentrate on our studies and forever remain indebted to God Almighty who in his mercies saw it fit to raise and provide father and mother figures in you and the staff here.”

We praise God for this milestone and look forward to all He will do through this new campus.

🏫 Alpha & Omega Secondary School (Kiburara, Uganda) – Phase Two construction is already underway. When completed in 2028, it will welcome our first graduating class from Hope Community Primary School.
🏫 Lighthouse Christian School (Ndola, Zambia) – A brand-new Secondary Campus is launching as a result of changes in Zambia's national curriculum.

🐔🦆🐐 Five chickens. A turkey. A duck. A goat. And a jackfruit so massive it took three boys to carry it.

That was the "record haul" our Executive Director Doug Hayes received during a recent visit to our program in eastern Uganda — not souvenirs, but gifts of gratitude from families whose lives have been transformed.

Jakisa lost his father at four years old and became sponsored through Covenant Mercies a few years later. As he grew up, Jakisa clung to his mother’s strength and the belief that his Covenant Mercies mentors poured into him. Despite the odds, he earned a college degree in computer engineering and was hired to teach computer classes at our newly-established computer lab at Hope Community Primary School. It’s a joy to see him using his God-given gifts to inspire the next generation!
