$4875 was raised this morning in a one-hour shot! Barb Eversoll presented the Glen Haven Area Volunteer Fire Department and reported they need to upgrade the ATV's. Currently, the department has 2 two-seater ATVs: one they always cross their fingers to make sure it starts and the other one that is getting very old. Chief Ingram asked the fire board to approve the purchase of a new ATV. It is a new Polaris Ranger side by side with a seating capacity of six and is able to transport a person in a prone or supine position if need be. This bigger ATV would’ve been really helpful with the incident on January 1st when transporting people back into a remote area. The ATV’s are used in search/rescue, wildland fires, weather incidents, and fire mitigation efforts. The fireboard agreed to support it with $15,000. The total price is approximately $33,000 dollars, so the rest of the money is coming from grants and donations. The fire department is not a tax levy supported entity. It is totally run by donations, grants, and money that is received through our annual Glen Haven pancake breakfast in July and association dues.
