The Glen Ellyn Independence Day Foundation is partnering with the Glen Ellyn Park District's Summer Break at the Lake event on Friday, June 26, at Lake Ellyn Park. Community members are invited to enjoy a variety of food trucks from 5 to 9 pm along Lenox Road.

A portion of food truck sales will benefit the Foundation, helping support Glen Ellyn's Fourth of July celebration and fireworks. The annual celebration is funded entirely through community donations and organized by an all-volunteer foundation.

The food truck area is open to the public and does not require admission to Summer Break at the Lake, making it an easy way to enjoy dinner by the lake while supporting a community tradition.

Glen Ellyn Honors Local "Superman" Jonathan Charbonneau

The Glen Ellyn 4th of July Committee is pleased to announce Jonathan Charbonneau as Grand Marshal of its upcoming Independence Day Parade.

Jonathan, a Glen Ellyn resident with autism, is well known throughout the community for appearing as Superman at local events for more than 35 years. His story was recently told through the documentary Saving Superman, produced by Brendan Fraser, and winner of the 2025 Critics' Choice Documentary Award.

Saving Superman follows Jonathan’s life in Glen Ellyn, where he is celebrated for his everyday acts of kindness.

A special screening of Saving Superman will take place on Saturday, April 18, at 11 am at the Glen Art Theatre, 540 Crescent Blvd.

In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, the Village of Glen Ellyn will issue a proclamation at the Village Board Meeting on Monday, April 13, at 7 pm. Jonathan will be in attendance.

As our nation marks 250 years of independence, we’re looking forward to a meaningful and memorable Fourth of July right here in our community.
