Bratwurst is a 2 year old border collie who loves everyone!

He is very people-friendly and enjoys getting attention from anyone who will give it to him. While he hasn’t been formally tested with children yet, we don't see any reason to believe he wouldn't do well with children.
He has only been in vehicles a few times for trips to the vet, and he has done fine during those rides.
Bratwurst was found as a stray, but is a well rounded dog with a solid temperament. He’s up to date on his vaccines, is heart worm negative, and has been neutered.
Bratwurst is a happy, social boy who enjoys people and other dogs. He really just wants to be around his people and get attention.

JB is a sensitive, intelligent dog who is slowly learning to trust the world again. JB is skittish and will need a patient adopter who can give him the space and time he needs. He is wary of new people and uncomfortable with handling. While he wags his tail and shows clear affection toward his trusted person, he does not enjoy being touched and often stiffens when petted.

JB’s ideal home is quiet, structured, and led by a patient woman who understands nervous, shut-down, or fearful dogs. A fenced yard, another friendly dog, and a calm environment would help him continue to progress. Inside the home he tends to pace, but once things are still, he settles. Sudden movements send him retreating to his kennel, though he returns once the environment is calm again. JB is not recommended for homes with men, as he is generally fearful of them. A female-only home is ideal. He should also not live with cats or young children. Teenagers may be okay as long as they understand his space and needs.

On the bright side, JB does beautifully with other dogs and may benefit from living with a confident canine companion. He enjoys herding-type activities, loves to run, and frequently plays with the dogs in his foster home. JB is housebroken, kennel trained, fully vaccinated, and HW negative. He knows a few basic commands like “sit,” “kennel,” and has a solid recall and doesn’t try to run off when outside.

JB is a project dog—but a rewarding one for the right person. With time, consistency, patience, and compassion, he will continue to blossom at his own pace. He’s looking for someone who sees beyond his fears and is ready to offer him the gentle, steady love he’s learning to trust.

Just over a month ago, Jesse met his new forever family and has been living like a Rock Star! He gets to go to work with Dad, snuggles at home with Mom and has a new furever pal to romp with. He's a lucky guy! Congrats to Jesse and his new family!

Due to no fault of his own, Easton is looking for a new forever home. Sadly, his owner has had some very unexpected medical events and in the best interest of Easton it was decided that he needed to come back into rescue and find a new forever home.

This is my favorite part about Midwest Border Collie Rescue - we stand behind EVERY dog that goes through the program for the duration of their life. It's their commitment to each dog! No questions asked - the dog comes back to their original foster home, where they are familiar to make transition easier for the dog.

Back to Easton! During his time away, he has come a LONG way! This cute, bubbly, energetic sweetheart has put on some training miles at class. He knows heel, with me, leave it, watch, sit, wait, stand, come front, swing and a few more. He has dabbled in agility and earned his Canine Good Citizen as well!

This kiddo doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He hasn't met a dog that he doesn't like. He might take a second when meeting new people but it doesn't take long for him to decide he wants to be loved on by you! His personality is best described as a goofy fun boy with typical BC energy. He can be a couch potato at times but does need his brain stimulated daily and get his zoomies out.

Must have for Easton - another dog in the home to romp and wrestle with!
Preference - fenced in yard or somewhere for him to safely run daily off leash to burn some energy. His recall is not trusted off leash.

Easton is about 3 years old, housebroken, prefers to be kenneled when his people are not home, neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped and heartworm negative.

We are obsessed with Mario - he is just about perfect in every way.

He is always concerned about doing the Right Thing. A simple, gentle correction is often all he needs to stop unwanted behavior. He’s house trained, crate trained and the sweetest little guy you’ve ever met. Gets along well with dogs, but not yet tested on cats.

Mario is a thoughtful little guy, and he needs to take his time with new people. We are working on meeting as many new folks as possible and he is doing well with that. He’s started a puppy training class to continue working on socialization and we’re working on meeting as many new folks as possible, and he’s doing great with all of that!

Mario is always trying to be polite, doesn’t jump on people, doesn’t counter surf, and will mostly be right at your feet.
Mario would be delighted with a canine companion who is interested in a bit of wrestling and chasing, and is willing to show him the ropes, but we could also see him thriving in a home that has plenty of time and quiet attention for this perfect puppy.�

About Our Organization
We’d like to introduce you to Midwest Border Collie Rescue, Inc. established in July of 2002. Our group of volunteers is dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and finding permanent homes for purebred Border Collies in need throughout the Midwest United States. So far we have volunteers and foster home in the following states:

Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan

What We Do
The purpose of Midwest Border Collie Rescue, Inc. is to rescue unwanted, abused, lost and abandoned Border Collies; assess their place-ability, and to place them into proper and permanent homes making the best possible match; to provide care and continuous training information with each Border Collie we place. It is our policy that adoptable Border Collies will not be euthanized due to lack of homes. Instead, we will keep the dog in our program as long as is necessary to find a suitable home. Midwest Border Collie Rescue provides educational services and advice to potential and current Border Collie owners with respect to breed characteristics, proper care, health, training, and behavioral issues.

MWBCR will open our hearts, lives and homes to ensure the safety of Border Collies. We strive to provide quality care and shelter for the abused, unwanted and abandoned Border Collie until a proper and permanent home can be found.

Why We Need You!
Although fostering is an important part of a rescue group, there are many other areas that are equally important. This is where you come in. Much of our work involves phone calls, contacting people via e-mail, or making home visits! There's also transportation of foster dogs, fundraising and a whole lot more. You can give as little or as much of your time. This is a no pressure group. If there are certain times of the year that work better than others – that is okay! A little bit of time can go a long way for our Border Collies in need.
