Midwest Border Collie Rescue The purpose of Midwest Border Collie Rescue is to rescue unwanted, abused, lost and abandoned border collies.

MWBCR is dedicated to saving the lives of Border Collies and Border Collie Mixes. We are a non-profit 501c3 organization and rely on donations and fundraising events to care for our foster dogs. We are all made up of about 15 volunteers who give our time, and dedication to help as many dogs as we can. We also help to educate, and provide referrals for resources to keep dogs in their homes, with their families.

Meet Murphy!

Age: ~2 years old
Breed: Border Collie Mix
S*x: Male
Weight: 60 lbs
Energy Level: Moderate

Murphy is a stunning black-and-white Border Collie mix with beautiful ticking and an even more beautiful heart. This sweet boy hasn’t had the easiest start in life, but despite everything, he continues to love people and looks forward to finding a forever family of his own.

Murphy first found himself in a county shelter, where he was adopted just one week later by an older couple living in an apartment. Unfortunately, Murphy was simply too strong and energetic for their lifestyle, and after six months he was returned to the shelter — only to end up on the euthanasia list.

Thankfully, Murphy was given a second chance, and now he’s ready for the life he truly deserves.

Murphy gets along wonderfully with other dogs and genuinely enjoys their company. He especially loves having a canine buddy to play with, whether male or female. A home with another playful dog would be ideal for him.

He is both crate trained and house trained, and one of his absolute favorite things is going for car rides. Murphy also loves to run around the backyard and roll in the grass — pure joy for this boy! Because he enjoys outdoor play so much, a physically fenced yard would be best for him. His future family should be committed to positive, force-free training methods only, so no electric fences, e-collars, prong collars, or similar training tools.

Murphy enjoys walks, although he can pull at times. His foster family has been working with him, and he’s making progress, but his forever family will need to continue using positive reinforcement training. He’s incredibly smart, eager to learn, and already knows basic commands along with a few fun tricks. Murphy catches on quickly and responds very well to guidance. A formal training class would be a wonderful way to continue building his confidence and strengthen the bond with his forever family.

Because of his strength and enthusiasm, Murphy would do best in a home with children over the age of 10.

One thing Murphy is still discovering is how to simply be a dog. He hasn’t quite figured out fetch yet — almost as if he never had the opportunity to learn in his previous homes. Watching him experience new things and learn how to play has been incredibly rewarding.

Murphy is ready for a family that will be patient, active, and committed to giving him the love, structure, and companionship he’s always deserved. In return, he’ll give endless loyalty, affection, and plenty of happy car ride adventures.

Murphy is neutered, current on vaccinations, HW negative and microchipped.

Hi, I’m Jesse! I’m a lovable guy who’s had a rocky start. I'm looking for my forever home, or even foster to adoption. I’m 2yrs, about 30lbs, and really good at learning new skills and am very treat and ball motived! I’m not too confident around strangers or children so I’d prefer a home with adults who are experienced with the herding breeds. I love to play, especially with my other canine friends, roll in the grass and I’m happiest when I get to have a good cuddle with my family. I can be a couch potato extraordinaire or run around If you’d like to learn more about me or are interested in me please email [email protected] or visit our website and apply. Link in bio!
