COMMON VITALITY is a passion-project and dream of Laurie Hobbs since 2012, and it's just entering it's baby beta phase...
The mission of Common Vitality is to serve as a local, peer-to-peer resource network enabling our capacity to heal ourselves and support our own highest vitality without relying on insurance, huge health bills, expensive therapies or premium retreats. It's all about supporting
local alternative health praxis-access and plugging in at the community level. My hope is that, through increased sharing in a local, interconnected network of supportive healing practitioners and available wellness wisdom (which is already in vast abundance within our local communities), we can reclaim the power of our own health and vitality. This beta phase of Common Vitality will be to test and see if this idea can indeed be a real and functioning model. There is such a vast wealth of health and wellbeing resources we already have within our local communities. Seriously, how many yoga teachers, massage therapists, life coaches and other healing practitioners do you know? Now, think of how many people you know (including yourself) who really could use a hell of a lot more of those services if you could afford them? Common Vitality is an idea to help our talents circulate more, independently of our larger national or world economic situation. Let's face it, the world is in need of some serious healing. Many describe the situation we're in right now as a planetary healing crisis. It's time to do away with the cumbersome monetary intermediaries between YOUR MIND-BODY-SPIRIT and the tools you already have in place in your community that can support a more optimum health and state of wellbeing - tools like detoxification and cleansing, massage, acupuncture, yoga, raw food and other nutritional therapy, life coaching, psychotherapy, chiropractic, mediation, etc. I want to create a network that truly supports local human AND local economic health. Common Vitality will be following in the footsteps of some truly innovative (and shockingly successful) pioneers like AirBnB, Swap.com and TaskRabbit. Like these companies, I hope to join in the wave of the new and growing shareable economy. It's where social change meets technology to help us swap, barter, trade and share our way into a re-localized and revitalized world.
