For the past 5 summers, Glen Burnie Reading Camp has had a tuition-free summer program for 25-30 children entering grades 3-5. Camp includes 15 hours of reading instruction--along with fun activities like crafts and games, plus field trips. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are served daily.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and our overwhelming concern for the safety of our campers and volunteers, we are not going to be able to hold camp this summer.
Even though we will not be seeing campers in person this July, we would like to encourage students in the Glen Burnie Area to continue reading throughout the summer. To do this we are providing 30 students with a bag of books. In addition, we will be including some fun food and snacks, a few activity books, a composition notebook and colored pencils to journal or draw, and an art project for creating their own colorful Glen Burnie Reading Camp t-shirt. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to connect with your child through our camper gift package. We really will miss seeing our campers this year, but hope they will enjoy the fun things we give them, and enjoy reading the books. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
