An impactful winter storm has arrived on our doorstep. Our crews have been gearing up throughout the week!

Whiteout conditions are expected throughout the day and well into the morning tomorrow.

Emergency services during these events are expected to be stretched thin. Many roads will be impassable. Please help us by limiting ALL non-essential travel. Stay Home and Stay Safe!

Over the last year we’ve seen a changing of the tides for our E Board positions. We welcome the following personnel to their new positions.

Happy New Year!

From all of us at Local 5086, we’d like to thank the Glen Arbor and Empire communities for your continued support.

In 2025 your Glen Lake Firefighters responded to 650 calls for assistance. This is a slight decrease from 2024 when we answered 662 calls.

2025 statistics include 315 requests for an ambulance, 13 structure fire responses, and 4 patients evacuated via North Flight Helicopter. Our busiest month was July with 88 calls recorded. Our busiest day of the year was 12/29 when a strong winter storm led to 22 calls in a 12 hour period for the duty crew.

We have several exciting things to look forward to in 2026, stay tuned!

🛑 🛑 DO NOT TRAVEL IN GLEN ARBOR/EMPIRE 🛑 🛑

Unless absolutely necessary, all travel should be avoided in the entire county. GLFD crews have been out since 7am and have encountered whiteout conditions ever since. Both station are out handling downed power lines and trees.

Expect significant power outage delays. Consumers had been assigned over 30 current calls in the county with tons more expected.

Tow trucks, police, and fire are backed up with vehicles in the ditch as well as trees and power lines down.

Roads are drifted and there is white out conditions with the high winds.

Once again, do NOT travel today if you do not need to!
