Dear Friends of Grace,

Well...it's official. We have closed the foundation down and established a mechanism for those who wish to continue supporting kids in treatment. All GOCF funds have been transferred to two new funds at Boston Childrens Hospital.

First, for those who wish to continue to support research, we established a fund that helps Dr. Roberto Chiarle with his neuroblastoma research. Information about Dr. Chiarle's research can be found here: http://chiarle.tch.harvard.edu. Donations to the research fund, as well as updates about progress toward the $100,000 goal, can be accessed with this link: http://fundraise.childrenshospital.org/goto/GraceOughtonNeuroblastoma

If we reach the $100,000 goal in three years, the fund will become permanent and will be named for Grace.

The second fund supports the child life programs on the Bone Marrow Transplant and Oncology floors at Boston Childrens. This is an ongoing fundraiser that will renew annually. Grace LOVED the child life programs and the amazing people who ran them. They brought a sense of joy and normalcy to the treatment process. They allowed kids to be kids. Donations to the child life program fund can be made by following this link: http://fundraise.childrenshospital.org/goto/GraceOughtonChildLife

If you have any issues with the links, please send us a message or troubleshoot through the Childrens Hospital site. We will continue to keep this page active.

Thank you to all who have supported Grace, our family, and our ongoing efforts to support kids with cancer and their families.

Lots of love,

Alec and Crystal

Do anything you love to fundraise for Boston Children's Hospital.

Dear Friends of Grace,

It is hard to believe that we are approaching the 14th anniversary of Grace’s death. It is also hard to explain how something can feel like it happened an eternity ago one minute, but other times feel like it was just yesterday. The mind is such an interesting creation.

Our family is also completing our 14th year of running the Grace Oughton Cancer Foundation - an organization that was born of the love and support from colleagues, friends, and family. For the past year, Crystal and I, along with the board, have fought with our emotions as we contemplated the finish line. Crystal and I, in particular, have grappled with the decision to dissolve the foundation - something that, for us, represents a piece of Grace’s legacy. We believe, however, that we have come to a decision and we are at peace with it. It is time for us to focus on Landon (19), Lilly (12), and each other.

Effective immediately, the Grace Oughton Cancer Foundation will no longer be accepting donations. We will use the rest of 2021 to wrap up the business of the foundation, and we plan to donate remaining balances to establish a “Grace Oughton Fund” at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, and/or Boston Children’s Hospital. We will try to move through this quickly, but navigating the process will likely take us into 2022. We will post updates as we make progress. Also, if the plan is adjusted, we will post an explanation (parent fund taxation, limitations on earmarking, etc.).

Again, we will share our progress and let you know how your continued giving can help kids who are fighting cancer and the researchers who have dedicated their lives to finding cures.

This is a hard message to send, but it is time to let this butterfly go.

Warmest regards,

Alec and Crystal Oughton
