✨ A big congratulations to Tracey & Claire! ✨

We’re excited to celebrate two well-deserved promotions on the LeadingAge Virginia team! 💚

Tracey Lewis has been promoted to Policy & Advocacy Manager, and Claire Ruble has been promoted to Program Manager.

Both Tracey and Claire have grown tremendously in their time with LeadingAge Virginia, bringing curiosity, initiative, creativity, and a willingness to jump in and move things forward.

From strengthening advocacy and member engagement to developing programs, creating meaningful opportunities, and turning ideas into action, they each bring valuable contributions to our work and to the members we serve.

We’re incredibly proud of all they’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see where their ideas, energy, and leadership take them in these new roles.

Today, we recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Indigenous peoples have called the land we now know as Virginia, home for thousands of years, with tribal communities firmly rooted in their ancestral lands long before English colonization. Virginia’s native people have played an important role in shaping the Commonwealth’s history and continue to enrich its communities through their cultures, traditions, knowledge, and contributions.

Today, we honor Indigenous communities, recognize the injustices they have endured, and reflect on the importance of listening, learning, and respecting their histories and lived experiences. Virginia has 11 state-recognized tribes: Mattaponi, Pamunkey, Chickahominy, Eastern Chickahominy, Rappahannock, Upper Mattaponi, Nansemond, Monacan Indian Nation, Cheroenhaka (Nottoway), Nottoway of Virginia, and Patawomeck.

😊 Miles & Smiles: Connecting with Our Members 🚗

This Miles & Smiles visit came with something extra to celebrate!

We recently stopped by Harbor’s Edge Senior Living Community in Norfolk to celebrate their 20th anniversary, marking two decades of growth, connection, and community. The evening featured remarks from city, community, and resident leaders, a look back at Harbor’s Edge’s evolution, and plenty of dancing!! 🎉

A special thank-you to Colleen Baybutt, Rob Braubitz, and the entire Harbor’s Edge team for the warm welcome. Congratulations on 20 wonderful years! We’re so glad we could celebrate this milestone with you. 💚

Help us welcome Kim Roque to the LeadingAge Virginia team! 👋

Kim is our new Director of Membership Engagement & Business Development, and we already can’t imagine the team without her! She brings such a positive attitude, helpful spirit, and great energy to everything she does.

Kim brings extensive experience in nonprofit and association leadership, including member engagement, education, sponsorship growth, and strategic partnerships. She’ll be leading our membership strategy, sponsorship and non-dues revenue efforts, and education and events.

She also brings a strong connection to aging services, having worked with a variety of aging services organizations and volunteered for years with her local Area Agency on Aging.

We’re so glad Kim found her way to LeadingAge Virginia and excited for all she’ll bring to our team, our members, and the work ahead. 💚

🎉Congratulations to Cedarfield🎉

LeadingAge Virginia is proud to recognize Cedarfield as the recipient of the 2026 Transformational Change Award for its innovative Prima Destination Dining program!

Cedarfield transformed the traditional dining experience into an opportunity for connection, discovery, and joy. Through biweekly destination-inspired meals, residents can experience flavors and cultures from around the world, all while enjoying the familiar comfort of community and shared meals.

What makes Destination Dining especially meaningful is the collaboration behind it. Through the M.I.T. (Most Important Tasters) program, residents help shape menus and destinations, while a culinary team representing 16 nationalities brings their own cultural knowledge, traditions, and talents to the experience.

The program even extends into healthcare neighborhoods, ensuring residents who cannot attend the dining experience can still enjoy special dishes and a taste of the destination.

Cedarfield has shown us that transformational change doesn't always require a bigger budget, it requires creativity, collaboration, listening, and a willingness to reimagine what's possible.

😊 Miles & Smiles: Connecting with Our Members 🚗

It’s been a while, but we’re excited to bring Miles & Smiles back, and we’ve added some new faces to the journey!

Our interns recently completed their first member visit at Seniors 1st Choice Adult Day Care in Richmond. Angelise Francis, Executive Director, took the time to give them a tour and share more about the adult day model and its important role within the aging services continuum.

We’re so grateful to Angelise for welcoming our interns and giving them the opportunity to learn more about the work our members do every day to support older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers. 💚

We can’t wait to see where their Miles & Smiles take them next! 🚗
