For 17 years, Margie has brought energy, compassion, creativity, and a whole-person approach to wellness at King’s Grant. Her philosophy, “We Can Wellness Can,” has become more than a motto, it has helped shape a culture where residents and team members are encouraged to move, connect, learn, laugh, and thrive.

Margie goes above and beyond every day. She creates engaging programs that meet residents where they are, brings experts to campus to support lifelong learning, encourages team members to prioritize their own wellness, and is always looking for another way to make someone's day a little brighter.

LeadingAge Virginia Featured in CBS 6 Nursing Home Accountability Coverage

Dana Parsons, Vice President & Legislative Counsel at LeadingAge Virginia, was recently featured in a CBS 6 article discussing the Virginia Department of Health’s proposed guidance for nursing home enforcement and accountability.

The proposed guidance could shape how Virginia responds when nursing homes have repeat violations, serious health and safety concerns, or other significant compliance issues, making it an important conversation for providers, residents, families, and the broader long-term care community.

In the article, Dana highlights LeadingAge Virginia’s support for strong oversight and accountability while emphasizing the importance of fair, consistent enforcement that considers the circumstances of each situation and provides providers an opportunity to correct deficiencies.

The Older Americans Act (OAA) Reauthorization Act (S. 2120) passed the Senate with unanimous bipartisan support and is now under consideration in the House.

The OAA is the foundation of our nation’s aging services network, supporting critical programs such as nutrition, caregiver support, transportation, health promotion, and other services that help older adults remain healthy, independent, and connected to their communities.

At the LeadingAge Virginia Annual Conference + EXPO, we officially welcomed our 2026–2027 Leadership Academy class as they gathered for their first Academy meeting.

Over the coming year, these emerging leaders will explore authentic leadership, strengthen their skills, challenge one another, and build connections that will last well beyond the program. Together, they'll grow as individuals while helping shape the future of aging services across our region.
