Merrill Area Community Rides (MACR)-formerly known as the ‘Merrill Community New Year Ride’- is a charitable organization founded in Merrill, WI in October of 2016. The organization is overseen by a five-member Board of Directors which meets monthly, on the third Thursday of each month at the AmericInn of Merrill.
Volunteer Coordinator/Co-Founder: Dennis Fick
Our mission is to bring the Merrill area together to enjoy an array of fun and outdoor recreational activities, while supporting fellow community members in need.
Our vision is to give back to the Merrill area, via tri-annual fundraising events every February, June and September.
Our support recipients are selected every October by the M.A.C.R Board of Directors, following a public application process which opens the week after our Rosco’s Ride event, in early September. Support recipients must meet a brief, but strict qualification criteria including having residence in the City of Merrill or the villages of Gleason and Irma.
As with other charitable organizations, we operate solely by donations. Every dollar raised from our events, is donated directly to our recipients. Since our inaugural event in January of 2017, we have partnered with our generous community to raise over $13,000 in support of fellow community members in need.
