You might have seen Aimee and Eli on WFSB Hello Connecticut last Tuesday talking about Glastonbury A Better Chance. Now we're asking this community to finish what they started.

Here's where we stand:
-$42,890 donated βœ“
-$50,000 goal
-$7,110 left to reach it
-12 days to go

Why it matters: $50,000 in community donations means our scholars get a fully funded year β€” meals, tutoring, housing, support, and the two Resident Directors who are with them every single day. Fully funded means stability. Fully funded means real opportunity.

How you can help:
πŸ‘‰πŸ½ If you haven't donated: Now is the moment. $50 helps. $500 helps. Whatever you can give gets us across the finish line. Thanks to Webster Bank and Aetna's 15% match, your $100 gift becomes $115 for our scholars.

πŸ‘‰πŸ½ If you've already given: We're asking you to share this. Post it. Email it. Tell people why GABC matters to you. That momentum is real.
We have 12 days and $12,110 to go. We've come so far. Let's finish strong for our scholars.

Congratulations to our Class of 2026! πŸŽ“

Ebo and Tayvon, you did it! We are so proud of everything you've accomplished and so excited for what comes next. This fall, Ebo heads to UConn and Tayvon to Sacred Heart University. Two GABC scholars, two great schools, and a whole future ahead. πŸ’™

We go to celebrated these two in a way they deserve β€” surrounded by the people who've been in their corner. Thank you to the GABC board for putting together a wonderful evening, and to the families, friends and host families who came out to mark this milestone with us. Nights like that are what this community is all about.

We couldn't be more proud. Go get it! πŸŽ‰

What if a seat at your dinner table could mean the world to someone? 🏠

Each week during the school year, GABC host families welcome a scholar into their home for a Wednesday night dinner, and one weekend each month, he's part of whatever your family has going on. It's a meaningful investment of time, and the families who do it will tell you it's one of the most rewarding things they've ever done.

Some of the most lasting relationships in a GABC scholar's life happen around a dinner table. What starts as an open door becomes a genuine connection, and for many host families and scholars, it's a bond that lives on long after graduation.

Host families come in all shapes and sizes. What matters most is a warm home and a genuine desire to be part of a young man's journey.

Could that be your family? We'd love to hear from you. πŸ’™

We're so close! πŸ”₯

Thanks to this amazing community β€” and a generous $10,000 anonymous donor match β€” we've raised $38,024 toward our $50,000 goal. That's incredible momentum, and we only need $11,976 more to get there.

Our 2026 Birdies for Charity campaign, A Day in the Life, funds the moments that make up a scholar's day β€” the meal on the table after a long school day, the tutoring session that makes it all click, the weekend outing that builds something harder to measure but just as important.

The campaign closes June 28. Every dollar counts β€” and every donation automatically receives a 15% bonus thanks to the generous support of Webster Bank and Aetna through the Travelers Championship Birdies for Charity program.
Let's finish this together.

Spring has officially arrived at the GABC house! 🌸
Last weekend, we were joined by volunteers from First Church, Glastonbury and members of our community for a spring clean-up at the house β€” and the results speak for themselves. Our scholars pitched in alongside board members, neighbors, and friends to get the yard looking its absolute best.

A heartfelt thank you to First Church and board member Leslie Ohta for the beautiful flowers, and to Scott's Orchard & Nursery for donating a full yard of mulch. Your generosity made a real difference β€” and it shows.

This is what community looks like. πŸ’š

Eli recently took center stage at Glastonbury High School's spring band concert, performing with the symphonic band on percussion. Check him out on the timpani during the band's performance of "The Klaxon" 🎢

We love seeing our scholars shine in all the ways they do. Congratulations Eli β€” well done!

Host family weekend looked a little different for Eli and Onyx a few weeks ago β€” about 40 feet off the ground! πŸ§—πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ The two tackled some of the toughest climbs at Central Rock Gym during host family weekend, and had such a great time that the following week the whole house made it a group outing!

And it turns out, the scholars had a built-in advantage β€” our very own RD Sam is a seasoned climber and was right there with them, belaying and sharing tips along the way. Safe to say the bar was set high. πŸ’ͺ🏽

This is what it's all about β€” turning new experiences and new challenges into fun memories.

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of David and Kathleen Smith, co-founders of Glastonbury A Better Chance. As founding members and one of GABC's very first host families, their belief in this program and in the young men it serves helped shape everything we are today. Their legacy lives on in every young man who, because of what they helped build, had a better chance.

We extend our deepest condolences to their family during this difficult time. They will be forever remembered and forever appreciated. πŸ•ŠοΈ

The indoor track season has come to a close, and we're proud of our GABC scholars who competed this winter for Glastonbury High School!

A standout season for Eli (sophomore), who competed in the 55m hurdles, 300m, Sprint Medley Relay, and the 4x400m relay β€” where his team went on to the State Championship! He also set a new personal record in the 55m hurdles this season with a time of 9.8 seconds. Great job!

Ebo (senior), had a strong showing in the high jump, long jump, and 55m. Tayvon (senior), competed in the shot put. And our freshmen are already making their mark β€” Noah and Junior both competed in the 55m and long jump in their first indoor season.

Congratulations to all on a good season! πŸŽ‰
