In 2025 Cuatro Puntos welcomed two master musicians from India, for a US tour and residency. Tomorrow, the album SOUNDS OF COLOR drops on streaming platforms around the globe, via Arkadash Records. This is the first known recording of classical raga being performed with a viola. This is a sample from a tour performance last year.

FEBRUARY 14 is the release date for Sounds of Color, an album of North Indian Raga that includes masters Madhurjya Barthakur (tabla) and Subhasish Bhawal (vocals) joined by Kevin Bishop on viola. As far as we can tell by our research, this is the first time Indian classical music has been recorded and released on an international label that uses the VIOLA rather than violin. There are a few unofficial recordings that cite viola, but upon listening each one turned out to be a misnamed violin. The viola brings an entirely new feel to an ancient art form.
The way these three musicians met is an unlikely story that spans a decade and several continents. Madhurjya and Kevin met in Kabul, Afghanistan and performed together in Kabul in 2014. The two went their separate ways, and talked for years about making music together again. After 3 years of working through visa issues, Madhurjya was finally allowed to come the US as a guest artist of Cuatro Puntos in 2025. He brought with him friend and fellow musician Subhasish. Throughout spring of 2025 the three made music together while staying in Winsted, Connecticut. They performed all over the state and recorded this album just before departing. It's an unedited recording of 2 rags, each one over 20 minutes in length. Stay tuned for the release of this special album - organized and sponsored by Cuatro Puntos.

Today we enjoyed playing a concert of music by Ukrainian composer Boris Lyatoshinsky today in White Plains, NY. The monumental Ukrainian Quintet was written during World War 2, while Lyatoshinsky was in exile from Ukraine due to invasion.
