Calling all birder friends! The Spring Bird Count is back, Saturday June 13th. We will meet at Rolling Hill Park at 8AM, then split into groups to count birds at Rolling Hill, Saunders Woods, Riverbend Environmental Education Center, and Dove Lake or Flat Rock Park. After the count, we will reconvene back at the cottage for coffee and bagels and the final tally of all birds seen and heard.

Birders of all experience levels are welcome to join! Please bring binoculars if you have them. The event is free (and so fun!) but please register at lmconservancy.com/events if you plan to come. Hope to see you there!

Our Spring Gala is only one week away - June 11th, from 6-9PM, at our host Dr. Janice Gault and Dr. Jim Vander's stunning home in Villanova!

Are we excited? Yes! We LOVE to get together with our community at this event.

Do we have lots of finishing touches we are working on? Yes! Flowers, photo booth, auction items, details. Much goes into planning.

Did we use some of our precious pre-Gala time to come up with weird little mood boards to help you all pick out Gala outfits? Also, yes. 😂

Check out the slides below and let us know which "couture" style best fits your Gala look. A "Conservation Easement" classic, a wild bohemian "Meadow Lawn" look, or perhaps the "Blue Heron" style is yours because you plan to come hungry and stalk the charcuterie table?

Whatever vibe you are going for, it is going to be wonderful. The Gala is a garden party for a purpose. All the funds raised through our Spring Gala support the mission of the Conservancy all year long, and that is beautiful.

It's not too late to grab last minute tickets, or to support the Gala efforts from afar if you can't make it. Visit lmconservancy.org/gala/2026 to show your support.

"How might I change my behavior, change our human behavior so that we can better help all species?"

In a recent article by GRID Magazine about her double exhibit at the John James Audubon Center, our Climate Artist in Residence Deirdre Murphy Art talks about how she hopes her work can encourage conversation about climate change, environmental conservation, and our human role in both.

Read more about her exhibits and reflections in the full article, linked below. Deirdre's exhibits are up through August 16th.

Congrats, Deirdre! Thank you for using your passion and skill to create such meaningful work.

And that's a wrap!

We had our last school visit of the school year with a fantastic bunch from Waldron Mercy Academy. The third grade class came out to Rolling Hill Park and learned about the connection between land and healthy water. We made native seed bombs, painted trout to add to our upcoming mural project, then hiked past the historical ruins down to Mill Creek where we looked for macroinvertebrates. It was a stellar day and a perfect last trip.

Thank you to the wonderful teachers for bringing such a great group out!

A tiny solitary bee enjoys a drink from a native fleabane bloom. We love spotting little bees like this - a fun reminder to look closely, our native pollinator friends come in all sizes and shapes.

The serviceberry trees in Schauffele Plaza are ripening! These native berries are delicious to both birds and humans. 🤤

There's something that feels special about being able to walk through a suburban park and snack off the native plants. It offers a wonderful way to connect to nature in a way people and animals in this area have been doing for thousands of years. ♥️
