Yesterday, GCD staff went out once more to the FAA site at Gladwin City Park & Campground and removed 27 pounds of invasive species! By removing invasive species, it allows the native species to better establish and thrive, improving habitat overall.

The work here is far from done. We are focused on long term health, and this is one of the many steps in an ongoing effort to rehabilitate this public space into a healthy, vibrant environment.

🚴‍♀️🦋Hop on your bike, learn about our native pollinators, and gain knowledge on how you can get involved in local conservation!

Join us at North Park in Gladwin to learn about native species and how you can get involved in local conservation! You'll be working alongside our dedicated Community Outreach & Conservation Educator and Conservation Specialist (Marah & Tabitha respectively).

The plan is to meet at North Park - Skate Park Parking Lot - and head over to the 3rd Grade pollinator garden to talk about native species. From there, we will make our way through the park and talk about the various ecosystem types that exist in the park and how you can get involved in local conservation efforts.

All ages are welcome. When you arrive, please check-in between 5:30 PM and 5:45 PM.

If you missed the Go Beyond Beauty and Pollinator Conservation event held by the Central Michigan CISMA and Gladwin Conservation District, there is another opportunity!!

This event will be held in Clare County:

Where: Jay's and Webber Wildlife and Education Center

Time: 5PM - 7:30PM

Presentations include Central Michigan CISMA coordinator Molly talking about the Go Beyond Beauty Program and how businesses and landowners can become involved and participate. We will also talk and provide information on the Little Forks Conservancy, Conservation@Home program.

Gladwin Conservation District's Community Outreach and Conservation Educator, Marah will talk about native bees species and how bee hotels can be a great addition to your garden.

🌞📸The Summer 2026 Conservation Photo Contest is now open!

Photos must be taken between June 21, 2026 & September 22, 2026 and have a natural resource or conservation theme such as: wildlife, landscapes, agriculture, etc. This is open to interpretation so be creative!

Deadline to submit photos is September 22, 2026 @ 11:59 PM (Autumn Equinox)

You can submit your entries a few different ways:
