Gladwin’s Own Cooter's Garage - A tribute to:
Earl “Scott” Schuster
July 11, 1966 – Feb 23, 2016
Scott attended Gladwin schools and moved to Midland as a young adult, where he built a vibrant, independent, and fulfilling life.
Scott faced many challenges in his life, but he always faced them on his own terms and never once complained. He was always cheerful and made friends wherever he went, ever at the ready to give one - or more - of his powerful bear hugs. Scott was active in his community, having worked at the Arnold Center for years as well as running his own business, Scott's Printing. He served as a board member for Community Mental Health for Central Michigan as well as People First of Midland, an advocacy group composed of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who strive to promote choice, respect, community inclusion, and self-determination.
Scott lived as a daily example of kindness, acceptance, cheerfulness, and love, and his smile could brighten any room. He loved his scooter, the Three Stooges, the Red Wings, the Detroit Tigers, and especially the Duke of Hazzard. He could often be seen driving his scooter around Gladwin with his bright orange full-faced helmet emblazoned with General Lee’s “01” on the sides.
So… snap a photo of yourself, your family, your vehicle, your motorcycle, or even your scooter. Enjoy this tribute as much as we enjoy making it available to the community.
