Word of the Week: Survivor

Camp after camp. Bridges. Woods.

Every engagement we step into, every conversation we have, every person we meet, the same word keeps rising to the surface in our minds: survivor.

Some people see laziness. Others see addiction. Others see brokenness. Others see instability. Some don’t see anyone at all.

We see survival.

We see strength. We see unhealed trauma. We see resilience. We see hope. We see community. We see a pathway forward for every individual.

It’s hard to put into words the survival skills of someone living on the streets. We have met some of the smartest, most resourceful people imaginable. Every day requires problem-solving, adapting, and making impossible decisions just to stay safe, find food, water, protect belongings, and make it through another night.

We’ve seen incredibly thoughtful, ingenious ways people create a place to call home out of almost nothing. Not because they want to live this way, but because surviving demands it.

When you’ve lost everything, or perhaps never had much to begin with, you learn to survive in ways most of us will never have to imagine.

One thing is certain: every person we meet is a survivor. And behind every survivor is a story worth knowing, a life worth investing in, and a future still worth fighting for.

⭐️Our outreach crew teams up with ATP Community Meals the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month.

Catch us at North Cross (1321 NE Vivion Rd) at 2 PM—we’ll be there with hot food, good vibes, and support if you need it. 💛

Today she surprised us with the cutest QT cup filled with gift cards to help keep us hydrated and full while we’re out in the community. It’s such a thoughtful gesture, and it means so much to know we’re appreciated and supported.
