Congratulations to our four scholarship recipients, our friend of education recipient, and our incredible retirees! 🎉

On May 6th, NKC-NEA celebrate the achievements, dedication, and impact of these outstanding individuals. Our scholarship winners represent the bright future ahead for these aspiring educators, and our retirees leave behind a lasting legacy of service, leadership, and commitment to students and public education. We thank this year's friend of education, Gladstone Bowl, for supporting our high school bowling teams.

Thank you to each of you for the difference you have made in our schools and community. NKC-NEA was proud to celebrate your accomplishments and wish you all the best in your next chapter! ❤️

We’re proud to share that NKC-NEA President, Amanda Bearden, this past Tuesday presented the newly ratified Collective Bargaining Agreement to the North Kansas City Schools Board of Education.

This agreement reflects months of collaboration, advocacy, and a shared commitment to supporting educators and strengthening our schools by CTTN. We are grateful for the voices of our members, the dedication of our bargaining team, and the partnership with district leadership throughout this process.

Together, we’ve taken an important step forward in ensuring our schools remain strong, supportive environments for both staff and students.

NKC-NEA leaders had the opportunity to attend MNEA Capital Action Days and speak directly with our legislators about what’s happening in our schools.

These conversations matter. We were able to share real stories from our schools and students, highlighting the very real impact of underfunding public education and current education policies being discussed this session.

We appreciate our legislators, Maggie Nurrenbern, Ken Jamison, Chris Brown and Bill Allen, for taking time to meet with us today.

Public education deserves investment, support, and thoughtful policy. Proud to be part of the work to make sure our voices are heard.

NKCNEA local leaders concluded a productive weekend in Columbia, addressing key union matters. We approved the budget, received updates on the state of the union from our MNEA President and Executive Director, heard from our NEA Directors, and engaged in thoughtful debate over resolutions.
