As we celebrate 250 years of our nation, we also honor the countless hands that built it. America’s story is one of courage, sacrifice, perseverance, and resilience—and that story cannot be told honestly without recognizing the contributions of Black Americans.

From laying the foundations of our cities and building our economy to advancing science, education, military service, civil rights, the arts, and every facet of American life, Black history is American history.

Today, we celebrate our nation’s progress while continuing to work toward the promise of liberty and justice for all.

Today we celebrate freedom, honor the resilience of those who endured slavery, and recognize the ongoing journey toward justice and equality. May we remember the sacrifices of the past, cherish the progress made, and continue working together to build a brighter future for generations to come.

As we close out our 20th Anniversary Gladewater Juneteenth Celebration, our hearts are full of gratitude.

THANK YOU to everyone who helped make today such a wonderful success! To our parade participants, vendors, volunteers, sponsors, performers, community partners, elected officials, and every person who came out to celebrate with us—your support, enthusiasm, and presence made this day truly special.

A special thank you to our Grand Marshals, Ms. Deborah Pike and Mr. Charles “BoBo” Gordon, for helping us commemorate this historic milestone. We also congratulate our first-ever Miss Juneteenth and all of the young ladies who participated in the pageant.

For 20 years, our community has come together to honor the legacy of Juneteenth through education, remembrance, unity, and celebration. Seeing families, friends, and neighbors gathered together today reminds us why this tradition is so important.

From the parade to the family picnic, music, food, fellowship, and fun, today was a beautiful reflection of the spirit of Gladewater.

Thank you for helping us celebrate freedom, history, and community. We look forward to continuing this tradition for generations to come.
