Congrats to Skinny Raven Sports for a successful Trail Series on the 5K Loop and Winner Creek Trail! Thanks for showcasing our valley and supporting local businesses like the Girdwood Brewery (post race raffle). And big congrats to Girdwood Parks & Recreation for the installation of the new map at the 5K parking lot. It looks awesome!!
The next Trail series is July 16 at the Abbott Loop parking lot in Anchorage. They’ll be showcasing Brooks shoes. A fun and free event for all to join!!

YES - you can still SIGN UP to volunteer at Forest Fair. This is a volunteer run event backed by a nonprofit that gives back to the community and other Girdwood nonprofits! Donating your time not only creates a successful event, but creates a stronger and healthier community.

Join Team “Girdwood’s Breast Intentions” for the virtual Alaska Run for Women here in Girdwood.

We’ll gather at the Daylodge magic carpet for a fun group start before heading out on the course. Participants can choose between a 1-mile or 5-mile option, making this event perfect for walkers, runners, families, and friends of all ages and abilities.

While most Alaskans have swapped out their skis for bikes and trail shoes, some hardy skiers just won't let go and are still finding fun on snow in May. It's been a pretty, pretty amazing ski season and the final issue of the Alaska Nordic Skier puts a bow on it all! Our clubs recognize the many staff, members, groomers, volunteers and sponsors who made the trails incredible and the winter spectacular, along with some program and race recaps, and even a few sneak peeks into the summer and next ski season! The issue includes:

* Homecoming for Alaska's Winter Olympians met with fun on familiar trails
* Thanking our respective ski communities and leaders for their hard work and support
* Storing your skis this spring makes them skate great next winter
* AK biathletes on target at state, nationals and international events
* A cold start and cool finish at the Sonot Kkaazoot
* Eagle River skier returns to trails and racing glory
* And more!

Skier Trail report for today 5/2: Some gravel patches on the uphill on the 5K loop plus a few small patches going down. Pretty soft snow on the 4k and 5K loops with new snow from yesterday’s storm. Worst is the last 100 yards before the equipment area.
