Earl Reed Jr. sentenced to a natural life sentence for 2nd degree murder in 1983. His sentence end date is 99999999 meaning he will be in prison until he dies. Earl Reed and his friend went to pick up another friend whom happened to be a white man. Earl’s friends get into an argument with each other that led into a physical altercation. The white man was shot & killed by Earl’s other friend. Earl was then threatened by the murderer with the gun to drive him away from the scene. 1 year later.. Earl was arrested & charged with 2nd degree murder after he truthfully told prosecutors about his involvement the night this situation happened. But let’s be real.. it’s 1983.. a white man was murdered & the 2 suspects are black & 1 is white… now Earl (the BLACK man) is serving a natural life sentence & has served over 42 years in prison. TODAY.. his fight for freedom starts. He was my “Pops” in prison & now with the help of an amazing attorney, I will fight to bring Mr. Reed home.
