🚒 Sparking a love for safety! Our Chanute Head Start preschoolers had a wonderful visit from our local library friends during Fire Safety Week. They brought big smiles, fire chief hats, stickers, and fun coloring pages.
Our little learners loved listening to some great safety stories, practicing their Stop, Drop, and Roll, and learning how to stay safe! Thank you to our amazing library for dropping by and making important lessons so much fun! ❤️📚🔥

October is Head Start Awareness Month, a time to recognize the children, families, educators, and staff who make Head Start such an important part of communities across the country.

For more than 60 years, Head Start has helped children build a strong foundation for school and life while supporting parents and families along the way.

We are proud to recognize Head Start Awareness Month and the people who make this program possible every day.

Teachers, family service professionals, bus drivers, health staff, cooks, program leaders, and so many others bring their expertise and commitment to Head Start every day.

Meet Larry Jump, SEK-CAP’s, Community Liaison for Southeast Kansas, Larry stays busy supporting our communities and the families we serve. From community meetings, baby showers, job fairs, to preparing treats for our Trunk or Treat events, Larry is always finding ways to make a difference. Larry also creates building signs, designs pamphlets and staff T-shirts, helps our Transportation Department market its services with route maps and flyers, and plays an instrumental role in community diaper drives. Whether he’s on the floor playing with kiddos or working behind the scenes, he brings creativity, dedication, and a willingness to help wherever he’s needed.

Larry, we appreciate all you do for SEK-CAP and our communities. You truly are an incredible asset to our team, and we’re so grateful to have you!
