At tonight’s regular city council meeting. Firefighter/Paramedic Joe Danko was recognized as the city’s employee of the month. Thank you for all you do for your community and department. We truly do appreciate you and your efforts day in and day out.

Also a special congratulations to Robert Golden from the water department who also was recognized tonight for employee of the month.

There are many traditions in the fire service. Every department has some that are specific to their organization. However one tradition that is fairly universal is practical jokes and pranks around the fire house. It’s one of the ways we build camaraderie.

If you’re driving by the station today give Captain Grunder a honk to wish him a happy birthday! Also enjoy the nice display in the front yard. Happy birthday Capt!

Today GHS Senior Abby Iceman who is also the daughter of Captain Iceman, painted a thin red line flag above our front door. This flag represents the last ounce of courage firefighters find deep in their blood to conquer their darkest fears in order to save and protect life and property. Thank you Abby! It looks great!
