Meet Gregory. 🏡

For years, Gilroy's streets were the only home Gregory knew —through hard winters, harder days, and more uncertainty than anyone should have to carry. But two weeks ago, that chapter finally closed.

Gregory now has keys to his own place.

Getting here wasn't quick or easy. It took persistence, courage, and the steady support of our case managers, who walked alongside Gregory every step of the way — connecting him to a program built to offer exactly what he needed: stability, dignity, and a real shot at a new beginning.

Today, we're beyond proud to celebrate Gregory and this huge milestone. A home isn't just a roof — it's a foundation for everything that comes next.

Welcome home, Gregory. 💛

Congratulations to Nissan of Gilroy on the celebration of their ribbon cutting! We are incredibly grateful to Rick and the entire Gilroy Nissan team for marking this exciting new chapter with an extraordinary act of generosity—donating a vehicle to a South County Community Services family in need.

This vehicle will soon be given to a local family that has overcome tremendous hardship and is working hard to build a brighter future. Reliable transportation will open doors to education, employment, healthcare, and countless opportunities that many of us take for granted.

This is what community is all about.

The support of local businesses like Gilroy Nissan makes a lasting difference in the lives of our neighbors. When businesses invest in their community, they help create hope, stability, and opportunity for families striving to move forward.

Thank you, Rick and the entire Gilroy Nissan team, for your kindness, generosity, and commitment to making South County a stronger place for everyone.

Congratulations again on your beautiful new dealership—we wish you many years of success!

Congratulations to Dakota, Micaela, and their two beautiful babies on beginning an exciting new chapter — one they can finally call home. ❤️🏡

For this family of four, this is so much more than moving into a house. It's a fresh start, a second chance, and the beginning of a future they've worked incredibly hard to achieve.

Not long ago, Dakota and Micaela found themselves facing one of life's greatest challenges. Like so many families experiencing housing instability, the journey back to permanent housing was anything but easy. It required countless appointments, paperwork, housing assessments, budgeting, meeting program requirements, searching for available housing, and never giving up—even when the process felt overwhelming. Through their determination, resilience, and the dedicated support of our SCCS case managers, they stayed committed every step of the way.

Today, we are overjoyed to celebrate this incredible milestone. Dakota, Micaela, and their two little ones now have a safe, stable place to call home.

Moments like these remind us that permanent housing doesn't happen overnight. It takes hard work from families who refuse to give up, caring case managers who walk beside them through every challenge, and a community that believes everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Congratulations to this amazing family! We wish you many years of happiness, laughter, and beautiful memories in your new home. ❤️

Meet Leonard. At 60 years old, he came to the Gilroy Shelter feeling "stuck, overwhelmed, confused and alone" — struggling to replace a lost social security card that stood between him and a new chapter in life.

With the help of our case management team, Leonard got clear, step-by-step guidance on exactly what documents he needed. He took action for his social security card immediately.

Something as simple as a social security card can change everything — opening doors to ID, employment, and a stable home.

Leonard's biggest advice? Reach out to staff for guidance, don't wait, and keep pushing forward no matter what.

We are so proud of Leonard's initiative and determination. This is why we do what we do.

This past Saturday, May 30, our team joined an incredible coalition of volunteers for a regional disaster preparedness exercise at San Martin Airport — and it was something special. 🛩️

General aviation pilots. HAM radio operators. Emergency response teams. All coming together to make sure our community is ready when it matters most.

🚁✈️ Did you know that if a major emergency or disaster impacts our community, there is a plan in place to help ensure South County residents continue to receive critical food and supplies?

This weekend, South County Community Services participated in the South County Airport Pilots Association (SCAPA) Disaster Airlift Response Team (DART) emergency exercise at the San Martin Airport. DART is made up of dedicated volunteer pilots who stand ready to fly emergency food, supplies, and resources into South County when traditional transportation routes may be disrupted.

For this exercise, we conducted a reverse drill, providing food supplies that were airlifted to neighboring communities such as Hollister and Paso Robles—demonstrating how communities can work together to support one another during times of crisis.

A special thank you to the incredible volunteer pilots who donate their time, skills, and aircraft to keep our communities prepared and connected. After the exercise, they even treated SCCS team members Oscar and Andy to a flight experience they won't soon forget!

Preparedness, partnership, and community make all the difference. We are grateful to SCAPA and DART for helping ensure that when disaster strikes, help can take flight. ❤️✈️🚁

🇺🇸 As our nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is honoring the occasion through an incredible act of service—donating 250 truckloads of food across all 50 states.

We are grateful that one of these trucks made a stop right here in Gilroy, delivering more than 16,000 pounds of much-needed food supplies to support families throughout South County.

Pictured here are Carl Woodland, representing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Oscar, SCCS Pantry Coordinator. Their partnership reflects what can happen when organizations come together with a shared commitment to serving others.

This generous donation helps strengthen our ability to provide nutritious food to our neighbors facing food insecurity and reminds us of the power of community, compassion, and service. Thank you to everyone involved in making this gift possible and helping ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.

Together, we continue building stronger, healthier communities—one meal, one family, and one act of kindness at a time. ❤️

Thank you, Tammy, and everyone from South Valley Community Church who gave their time this week.
