🚁✈️ Did you know that if a major emergency or disaster impacts our community, there is a plan in place to help ensure South County residents continue to receive critical food and supplies?
This weekend, South County Community Services participated in the South County Airport Pilots Association (SCAPA) Disaster Airlift Response Team (DART) emergency exercise at the San Martin Airport. DART is made up of dedicated volunteer pilots who stand ready to fly emergency food, supplies, and resources into South County when traditional transportation routes may be disrupted.
For this exercise, we conducted a reverse drill, providing food supplies that were airlifted to neighboring communities such as Hollister and Paso Robles—demonstrating how communities can work together to support one another during times of crisis.
A special thank you to the incredible volunteer pilots who donate their time, skills, and aircraft to keep our communities prepared and connected. After the exercise, they even treated SCCS team members Oscar and Andy to a flight experience they won't soon forget!
Preparedness, partnership, and community make all the difference. We are grateful to SCAPA and DART for helping ensure that when disaster strikes, help can take flight. ❤️✈️🚁
