As the first rain of the season rolls in, we’re so grateful to the Missions Teams at St. Anthony Parish for donating 100 hygiene bags filled with fresh socks and dignity supplies for our unhoused guests.

Dry socks and basic essentials can make a real difference on a cold, wet day, and this gift arrived right when it was needed most. 🌧️🧦

What if $25 could put a Thanksgiving dinner on a neighbor’s table?

Every week, hundreds of local families turn to the South County Community Services Community Food Program for nutritious groceries and essential support. This Thanksgiving, we want to ensure they can also enjoy a special holiday meal.

Our goal: 2,200 turkeys for families throughout South County, and we need your help to get there!

$25 provides one turkey for a local family. Because we need such a large quantity and have limited freezer space, financial donations allow us to buy in bulk and arrange delivery for our Thanksgiving distribution day.

Turkeys will also support our Unhoused Thanksgiving event, where we honor our unhoused guests with a warm holiday dinner.

We’re also collecting traditional side dishes:
🍁Stuffing
🍁Cranberry sauce
🍁Canned yams

Every contribution matters! Whether you sponsor a turkey, donate sides, or give a larger gift, you’re helping a South County family gather around the table for a meaningful Thanksgiving.

Every success story has a quiet hero behind it.

Maybe it’s the person who answered the phone on someone’s hardest day. The one who sat across the table and said, “Let’s figure this out together.” The one who celebrated when a family finally found housing, a job came through, or a goal that once felt impossible was within reach.

This week is National Case Management Week, and at South County Community Services, we want to celebrate those people: our case managers.

Day after day, they walk alongside our neighbors during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. They listen without judgment, open doors that once seemed closed, and remind every client that they’re not facing things alone. The progress they help create doesn’t always make headlines, but it changes lives, one conversation, one step, one small victory at a time.

To our incredible case managers: thank you for your compassion, your patience, and your tireless dedication. Our community is stronger because of you, and we’re so proud to work beside you.

Kindness doesn’t have to be loud. Sometimes it’s quietly packing groceries for people you’ll never meet.

Today, the incredible team from the Coach store gave their time and their hearts to our community by preparing groceries for us to distribute on Thursday.

Because of their generosity, neighbors in need will go home with full bags and a reminder that someone cares.

To the volunteers from Coach: thank you for showing up and making a real difference. Because of you, families in our community will sit down to fuller tables this week.

Experiencing homelessness means facing daily challenges—from finding a safe place to sleep to accessing benefits and searching for work, often without reliable transportation. Robert’s story shows how determination and consistent support can help create a path forward. 💙

Throughout his two months at the shelter, Robert has stayed connected with SCCS case management and worked steadily toward stability. In the past two weeks, he transferred his medical insurance to Santa Clara County and began receiving cash aid and CalFresh benefits. He also continues to volunteer at the SCCS Community Food Program, supporting others while working toward his own goals.

Robert has spent his days actively searching for jobs and housing—with his case manager and independently, often on foot. Now, a friend has offered him a room in exchange for caregiving assistance, and Robert expects to leave the shelter soon!

His advice to others is simple: Check in with case management as often as you can. They can be a huge help, and introducing yourself is the first step toward accessing that support.

We’re proud of Robert’s progress. Finding stability takes time, and no one should have to navigate the journey alone.

Welcome to Gilroy, StorQuest! 🎉

South County Community Services was pleased to join Greg Bozzo Gilroy Mayor and the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce at StorQuest’s ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome this new business to our community.

StorQuest is generously donating one year of storage space to SCCS to support our growing program needs. We are especially grateful to Norm, TJ, and Joey from StorQuest for their kindness and commitment to supporting our community.

We also celebrated Ruben Dario Villa and the amazing mural he painted on the StorQuest building—a beautiful addition to Gilroy!

This is a wonderful facility, and we are proud to partner with StorQuest to strengthen our community through programs serving local families and unhoused individuals. Thank you for making a difference! 💙

🐾 Grateful for Xan and her bestie, Quintin! 🐾

With animals close to her heart, our wonderful volunteer Xan makes a monthly trip to the Humane Society Silicon Valley to pick up dog and cat food for our unhoused guests and their beloved furry companions. Each month, her truck is loaded with more than 500 pounds of much-needed pet food—with Quintin along for the ride! 🐶❤️

For many of our unhoused guests, their pets are their closest friends, offering comfort, companionship, and unconditional love. Xan’s kindness helps keep those faithful companions fed and cared for.

Thank you, Xan and Quintin, for bringing so much heart to this work, and thank you to the Humane Society of Silicon Valley for helping support our neighbors and the animals they love! 💛

We are incredibly honored and grateful to the Gilroy Foundation for recognizing South County Community Services and the work we are privileged to do in our community. 💛

We are especially humbled to be recognized alongside SVCREATES, Nueva Vida, Rebekah Children's Services, Youth Alliance, and gilroy.nest. Simply being part of this amazing group of nonprofits—organizations that give so much of themselves to strengthen, uplift, and care for our community—is an honor in itself.

Nonprofits bring culture, color, creativity, compassion, vibrancy, and resiliency to our communities. But even more importantly, they create spaces where people can belong, grow, connect, and find hope.

And sometimes, they provide something even more fundamental—a place to turn when life becomes difficult and someone simply needs to know that things can get better.

Thank you to the Gilroy Foundation for seeing this work, for believing in the importance of nonprofits, and for investing in the people and organizations working every day to make our community stronger.
